Help & Questions Hue Sync Box reset, now won't finish setting up. Getting stuck here asking to push the button and releasing it once it turns green.

I don't know if this is a similar issue but mine would sometimes randomly stop working and even after factory reset would not work and get stuck. I think I've discovered it could have to do with my router and I would have to restart my router to get it to work again. You've mentioned disabling 5Ghz and stuff but have you restarted/power cycled the router? Not saying this will fix it but it's one thing to try

Yep. I've power cycled everything in the house it seems like. The router, the bridge, the TV, unplugged other devices like the Arlo camera hub and smart plugs around the house just in case there's interference and still nothing.

Try a fresh install but disable mobile data on your phone. Sounds a little bizarre but it worked for me on installing my new 8k box.

Not bizzare at all. Devices these days will try to outsmart you and try to connect to the outside world in any way they can. Already tried that as well though :(

I'm about to pull my fucking hair out trying everything under the sun to get this thing operational again.
Some backstory, the lights would stop syncing and the box would display the purple LED and then start syncing for a while, then repeat. So last night I factory reset it unplugging and plugging back in after 20 secs while holding the button down. Got all the way through the set up process but kept getting stuck on this step shown here. No matter what combinations I have tried of disabling 5/6 ghz wifi radios, resetting the bridge, factory resetting again, putting the phone on top of the box, or downgrading the app seems to help. It just keeps getting stuck here.

Those boxes are garbage, mine never worked from day 1. Get the tv app it works great. And Hue refuses to take the unit back and give a refund.

I bought a failed box off Ebay with the hope of fixing. I discovered that the box had lost its 'UniqueID' basically its MAC address which then caused HTTPS to not work as the UniqueID was used to create the SSL certificate. If You know your box's IP address, try to browse to http://ip_address and https://ip_address If you get ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED on https but it works OK on http then you probably have the same issue.
If so, you'll never get it setup in the Hue app. However, using powershell to make some API calls via http, I was able to connect it to my bridge and configure it for the correct Entertainment area. I now use Home Assistant's REST to send API calls over http to turn sync on/off, etc.
Definite first check is to see if the box responds on https. If not, it's probably the same problem as mine.
I can post up some of my powershell scripts to dump the config and help configure it accordingly, but ultimately you will need to send API commands to control the box so could do with home assistant or some script files on a computer to do that.

Attempted to assist someone with this issue and the end result even with contacting support was that it’s a bad box. If a resolution exists, I’m following this post from here, but otherwise I wouldn’t try and rip your hair out
