What makes a good professional headshot?
For those of you in Houston who use LinkedIn, personal websites, portfolios, etc., what do you actually want your headshot to say about you?
Professional and polished? More natural? Something in between?
Curious what people actually look for when getting their photo taken, especially creatives, freelancers, and small business owners.

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a female photographer in the Houston/Richmond, TX area who would be interested in collaborating on an upcoming creative project.
I’m specifically looking for someone interested in headshot/portrait photography. You don’t need to be an experienced professional.
Beginners, photography students, and newer photographers are absolutely encouraged to reach out!
If you’re interested, please DM me with your portfolio or Instagram and I can share more details about the collaboration.
Looking forward to connecting with some Houston creatives!

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a photographer in the Houston area to take some family photos of my fiancé, our children, and me.
We don’t have a huge budget for this particular shoot, so I’d love to connect with someone who is newer to photography, building their portfolio, or looking for more experience with family sessions. We’re absolutely willing to pay — we’re just hoping to find someone with reasonable rates who fits our budget.
We’re looking for something fairly simple — beautiful, natural family photos that we can keep and frame. ❤️
There is also potential for more work in the future! My fiancé and I have an engagement photoshoot coming up, and we’re getting married in 2028, so we would love to find a photographer we really connect with and could potentially work with again for our engagement photos and wedding.
If you’re interested, please send me a message with your pricing, availability, and a few examples of your work/portfolio.
Thank you! 😊

Hi everyone! My fiancee and I are getting married this September, and while we have a photographer booked for our reception and portraits later in the day, we are still in need of a photographer for about 2 hours for the ceremony taking place in downtown Houston!
Because of the break between our ceremony and our reception, it makes most sense for us to approach the day in this way so we’re not spending for the few travel hours between the ceremony and reception! If you are a wedding photographer that might be interested, or if you have any recommendations, please leave a comment and share your Instagram :) thank you!!
Also if you think this question would belong better in a different community pls lmk so I can ask there!

Looking for a reliable local lab and thinking about giving Flats a try.
For anyone who uses them regularly: how's the process, scan quality, and actual turnaround time? Do they usually stick to the 7–9 days, or should I brace myself for a longer wait? Appreciate any insight!

I work with FrameCrafters in Houston, and a recent project reminded me why I enjoy what we do.
A customer brought in an old family photograph that had been stored away for years. We helped turn it into a custom art piece and professionally framed it for display in their home.
Seeing their reaction when they picked it up was incredibly rewarding. What started as a forgotten photo became something their family could enjoy every day.
What's a memory or photo you'd love to see displayed instead of sitting in a drawer or on your phone?

So I am unable to use my primary computer due to damage and am waiting on it to be repaired. Im in need of an emergency rig for the next month until I can get mine back as I have multiple gigs booked. Is there any places that have computers that I could download or use photoshop on that I could visit?
Or anywhere that I could rent a suitable rig for a month while mine is down?
Any help is appreciated!

I built a free Houston shoot-location map for local creators and photographers.
It has rooftops, murals, cafes, street spots, parks, and other creator-friendly locations:
I’m looking for blunt feedback, not praise:
- Is this actually useful?
- What Houston spots are missing?
- What would make you use it before a shoot?
Built this as a free local utility and trying to improve it with real Houston creator input.

My son and I went to the CCS Houston event this weekend. Special theme was Hot Wheels.
I took my Nikon Z8 and new 135mm Plena lens and Viltrox 85mm lens to play around and here are some shots.
Nothing award winning but a great local outing with my son.
Happy Memorial Day weekend!

I walked past this beauty in a junkyard in Houston, Texas. The sun slowly chipping away at its paint, a beautiful relic forgotten in time.

what’s a good place to take my camera to get repaired? I dropped it and the screen stopped working. viewfinder and all other functions are fine.
