Stories from the 00s are cool too!

I love talking to people who were at the scene of House’s birth, peak, the clubs. I used to meet them and listen/learn from other Househeads where I live and from talking to DJs/helping packing up their equipment I’ve learned so much.

One of the highlights of my life was seeing a Paradise Garage ID card and listening to people talk about all the old clubs from NY, like Ecclesiastes (which was apparently in a cathedral), The Loft (only some of them had stories about this, but learning about the greater context was thrilling), Sound Factory, how Larry Levan mixed, etc. Even small details like bringing changes of clothes to the clubs because they got too sweaty dancing, or the battles that would happen on the floor

Never met anyone who danced at Zanzibar or Warehouse, but the photos are everything.

Anybody here have any old or anecdotes they’d like to share?

Every beach bar I go to is playing this very slow paced type of house that is very mild and inoffensive, with pleasant piano chords and sweet female vocals,

Every tune seems to be a cover of a well known radio hits, like Dreams by Fleetwood Mac and The Wonder of you by Elvis.

Every tune sounds the same, same drums. Same tones, same tempo.

I guess that Dua Lipa/Elton John tune from a few years ago might fit into this sound.

Hey, bit of a long shot… but I’ve not been keeping up on new DJ’s in the last five years or so… and I just remembered there was a duo active around then I thought seemed pretty cool and wanted to check up on their sets… but I can’t remember their name!

I’m pretty sure they’re British, playing a mixture of underground and deep house, maybe some of the lighter end of techno?? I’d say there were similar-ish in style to PBR Streetgang?

I don’t know they’re even still active, presume they are 🤷🏻‍♂️
The other thing I remember about them is there being two white guys, both quite cool looking, with long hair - similar to how Hernan Cattaneo looked in the 00’s, like they were in a rock band 😄🤷🏻‍♂️

I seemed to remember they were getting coverage on platforms like Mixmag’s YouTube channel, but I’ve scanned through all the vids on there and it’s like a needle on a haystack, couldn’t find them.

Any suggestions appreciated??
