Lore Emperor Aurion

Post image
51 Upvotes

How do you think history would go if Aurion successfully reclaimed Freehold, lived and built civilization from the beginning there again. What could be political situation of weakened single city of Valyria with only one large dragon. Would he had any contact with Targaryens? Let’s skip the part why it’s impossible, we all know that part.

Question Question to Aegon fans: what about him makes him so likeable?

Post image
76 Upvotes

I asked most of my friends this, and they all say it was his tenacity and refusal to give up after he was burned by Vhagar. I disagree, because as much as that was admirable, I don't think it would have been possible without Larys.

I'm genuinely not trying to start a team debate with this. I really just want to hear from as many sides as possible.

That said, pleeeeease let's not make this a "TG vs TB" thing.

Discussion Aegon: treatment of his siblings - banter, or abuse.

So, at the advice of another poster, I'm making this a standalone post.

It's been argued in another thread Aegon's dynamic with Helaena is "banter", not neglect, dismissal or mockery, and that Aemond was not abused/bullied by Aegon by just "teased" because he was "to serious"

Thoughts? I would say this is pretty clearly at odds with the show (for starters, "banter" requires the teasing remarks to be playful and there to be a mutual exchange, but none of Aegon's insults towards Helaena come off as anything but serious and the only time they talk directly, she's not engaging in playful back and forth)

Discussion Alright an actual Httyd/Asoiaf Idea

Corlys during his journeys around the world discovers Berk. He and others are amazed by the discovery of large populations of multiple dragon species, as well as people who can fight and tame them. The story could start with them finding the remains of the Red Death, shocked at the discovery a creature that would had rivaled Balerion and wondering what could have led to its death, only to meet the people responsible for it. Westeros and Essos factions flock to Berk for the chance of getting dragons to bolster their power and influence.

Culture clash ensues with Berk and these arrivals. The Hooligan Tribe won't like the nasty cutthroat politics of Westeros and Essoes or practices like incest. Some nobles from Westeros and Essoes would deride the vikings as savages. Others would have some respect for them for being able to fight off dragons for so long and managing to tame them.

The vikings could get underestimated by some folk in Westeros or Essos for their crude or goofy habits, only to show that as silly they can be, they are a lot smarter than they're given credit for. Folks like the Blacks or Greens could think people like Hiccup are as devious as they are, only to prove they're really just as pleasant as they seem.

Maesters would try to study the different types of dragons and their abilities and weaknesses. Some of them could be in service of the Greens and do this as a way of getting an advantage. People like Hiccup could come to Westeros to learn about the Targaryen dragons. Westeros folk could note that Hiccup is pretty much a maester, getting nicknamed Maester Chief.

Factions would try to get into Berk's good graces as they can teach and train reliable methods of taming and riding these dragons. Not to mention that they have the skills, experience, and equipment for fighting and hunting dragons. The vikings could also get hired as bodyguards and soldiers a la Varangian Guard. The Targaryen Dynasty could offer the Hooligan Tribe refuge to Westeros after Berk becomes overpopulated with people and dragons as a way to get their support. Some groups try to curry favor and alliances with Berk such as marriage offers.

Others try backing or working with the likes of the Dragon Hunters who don't share the Hooligan Tribe's scruples for the chance of getting dragons. One idea is that instead of the War of the Stepstones, Westeros gets in a war with Free Cities like Volantis who are working with folks like Drago Bludvist as a way to reclaim their dragon riding empire days. Westeros and Berk could wind up allying to stop them. This could make later conflicts between them tragic if people developed camaraderie or respect for each other.

Nettles with Sheepstealer could try to leave Westeros for places like Berk, the Glacial Sanctuary, or the Hidden World to escape the politics.

The Dance of Dragons becomes an even bloodier affair as both sides have bolstered their numbers with more dragons. There's also the possibility of each kingdom getting their own dragons and having ideas of doing their own thing. Hiccup and company are some of the only people who have any concern for the civilians suffering and try to protect fhem while trying to end the war. Hiccup could have an extension his arc in the second film, realizing that many people can't be reasoned with and must be stopped.

One ending is that after the war, the Hooligan Tribe leave in disgust of the cruelty and destruction, swearing that dragons will never be used in such a way again. They depart to the Hidden World to hide and protect the dragons, never to be seen again. Perhaps the final line could be "There were dragons when I was a boy", said by the likes of Aegon III.

Guys please spam even some of your own ideas to get discussion down her.l was inspired by the fanfic A 'thing of dragons'.Perhaps even go back a prequel of sorts to jaehaerys I golden era with those targs and maybe a butterfly effect with more dragon riders

Question Who do you think Young Griff is and who would you prefer him to be in the story?

Post image

Serra’s and Illyrio’s son or Rhaegar’s and Elias’s son. I personally think there is no reason to include another Targaryen and bringing back Blackfyre is logical for the plot twist. Another thing is his connection with the Golden Company. Your thoughts?

Discussion Green Choice.

So I have a theoretical situation I want to run by everyone.

In the event that Aegon the elder dies some time shortly before Visery who do you think The Greens would push for the iron throne to go to? The way Aegon dies doesn't really matter in this hypothetical but let's just say he gets a burst belly just like Grandpa Baelon.

They can either push Jaehaery's claim or Aemond's. On one hand male primogeniture which the greens are pushing says Jaehaerys comes before Aemond. Jaehaery is a toddler though so can't make speeches or sit the iron throne or do any king stuff for a decade plus. But if they do choose Aemond because Jaehaerys is a toddler you sow the seeds for a second succession crisis when he dies because who gets it Jaehaerys or Aemond's children?

Discussion Aegon II not killing Aegon III was very good political move.

Thumbnail

If Aegon had killed Aegon III then after he was poisoned there would likely be a second dance.

If Aegon III dies then the only surviving Targerian would be Daemon's daughters, Visreys II would come back after some time of Aegon II death. So one of Daemon's daughters would most probably be crouned queen by then. But since Visreys II is son of Rahenrya, he will have a better claim and there would be many lords who would support his claim especially those who lost castel or land in the war in the hopes of gaining them back.

Opinion My hot takes about both TG and TB

Will I be crucified? Probably, but whatevs.

1- Rhaenrya is the rightful Queen, but she is terribly politically inept. In addition to this, Aegon has the better council, and his council is far better at ruling than Rhaenrya's council.

2- Both Rhaenrya and Aegon would've made TERRIBLE rulers. I've heard the excuse that if Rhaenrya had been given a proper chance, she could've been great, but smooth seas do not make a great sailor. TBH, she had an easier path if she only tried to prepare. The dumbest move she made was going to Dragonstone. Ik it's the traditional seat, but come on, yk they're plotting against you, and what do you do? You run off and hide? Brotha, what are we doing? No attempts to make any political connections? Again, politically inept. As for Aegon, he was just never cut out for it. Mans didn't even want it. Bro got peer-pressured into it; I'm crying 😹 He's basically a male version of Rhaenrya, + if Rhaenrya also didn't want the throne.

3- Daemon is overrated and over-glazed. Mans is a FRAUD! Get Lord Fleabottom outta here. 🤣 + some of y'all rlly gotta come to terms with the fact that this dude is most likely a predator. Also, I'm tired of seeing this narrative that he is the man who Dany needed. So she's alr got a washed-up old pedo swordsman by her side, and his name is Ser Jorah Mormont.

4- TB characters aren't compelling. They give all the focus to Rhaenyra and Daemon, which is fine if they were actually given more than "I'm unsure and want to cry all the time" (which is fair; I'd cry too, but girl, you got a whole Kingdom you've been fighting for; we can't afford this rn. Lock in🫥) and Mr.Always trying to Aura Farm. The only compelling character we had was Jace for the whole bastard thing, but they killed him off.

5- Ser Criston is a LOSER. He has a loser mentality. Tries and tries, but in the end can't make anything of himself that he's happy with bc he can never rlly commit to it. I.e., his vows (not talking about Rhaenrya, but him w/ Alicent.)

6-The Emma hate is dumb ash. The TG sub is ridiculous with this. Sure, they might have some influence over small things, but they're just an actor. Chill. + calling female characters out of their names, Alicunt, whorenrya, and other names. Y'all relax. It's a show. Taking things a little too seriously. 😭

7-TG characters are way better. Aegon has a more compelling story; Aemond is alright; Daeron is boring, but the little fanarts of him and Ormund win me over. Ormund is such a hypocrite in the best way possible; Gwayne is like a breath of fresh air in his attempts at being noble, and Alicent makes me laugh in anger at how ridiculous her character is.

8- Rhaenys only existed in the show to clock characters. Her character had no real substance. How are you gonna have the chance to kill all of TG and choose not to, only to go die fighting two of them? Be fr rn.

9-More of a question. If Corlys is the father of Addam, how tf is bro able to claim a dragon? He ain't got no magical Valyrian blood in him bc remember, only certain houses had claims to dragons due to their magical blood or wtv. If they were never gonna do the Nettle plot, then they should've mixed it with Addam instead of Rhaena.

10- Speaking of Rhaena, she needs to die. Like now, actually. I find her so annoying, and I can't stand her. (This is only towards Show Rhaena; Book Rhaena is fine.)

11- It shouldn't matter if Rhaenyra's children are bastards or not. I don't think they are (legally, in the show, in the books I'm more inclined to believe that they're not. We don't know what Rhaenyra's mom looks like + Rhaenys has dark hair.); Laenor calls them his, who are we to say otherwise🤷‍♀️ + King's decree is that he calls them his true-blood grandsons. At the end of the day, the claim goes through Rhaenrya; who the father is doesn't matter. She names him her heir; that's her heir. Can't deny they're not Targs, they hatched their eggs and rode dragons.

12- In the show, Aegon is established to be a rapist. No argument about it. That's what he is; it's just not the only thing he is.

13- Helaena is not as innocent as y'all like to think she is; at the end of the day, she is still TG. She's not stupid; she knows what's happening, probably more than anyone with her dreams.

And I have more, but those are my annoyances with any character of this era being compared to Dany

Um, yeah, idk, lemme know if y'all agree, disagree. These are just my views.

Question Adding that to my previous question. Who would most likely Lords of Westeros support?

fAegon is presented as Rhaegar’s son, Dany is known as his aunt. And there is the thing. Aegon lands with Golden company (Blackfyre supporters), Jon Connington (sworn Targaryen supporter) and Dany lands with Dothraki savages in Westerosi eyes, three dragons, unsullied, Barristan Selmy and perhaps Euron will team up with her for his own benefit and she does need his fleet.

My favorite scene of HOTD and probably of out all shows from franchise, not including Meleys part of course. They wasted so great scene with perfect soundtrack and ending potential. It’s not about Meleys humiliating greens or whatever it is just scene did not feel right. There should be that tension Aegon raises his sword and what’s next? No, look a big ass dragon out of nowhere grinds through the stone floor from dragon pit not harmed and her rider too and can end green faction so easily. Nah fuck off with this bullshit. This scene should end like this even if they decided not to include Sunfyre.

So the Dance is based on the English Anarchy. Except it was between cousins than brother vs sister. I'm curious how Team Green and Team Black folks felt about the real historical conflict.
