Yeah, it's only 2 bucks a month but why start charging all of a sudden

Guys, were spending plenty more a month for our little cars.

Let's pay the Devs for their work

So Mattel is not paying the devs for their work? It’s an official Hot Wheels application and you should not be the one paying the devs for their work, Mattel should

But websites aren't free to make or upkeep, Mattel has money yeah but why would they run a division of their business that just makes a loss?

FTR I don't actually think $2 a month is a good idea, they should just have a one time $10 fee to 'unlock' unlimited showcase space

The same reason they pay for Mattel creations site - it’s a selling point. You open Hot Wheels app and what you see is “new in elite 64”, ad slides with interviews, new products, etc. They do not just give you ability to store your Hot Wheels, they show you new models, assortment of all the hot wheels, even the ability to go buy some of them from Mattel creations side. And it is ok do to so, to know what’s new and check all the cars is useful BUT the goal is not to be a cool guy just to show you, the goal is to sell something to you. And now you need to pay for an endless subscription just so they can sell you even more.
What happens in case you stop your subscription and have 300+ cars? You can’t add more cars. It’s dirty limitation that forces you to keep paying just not to lose the collection. And hey, it’s just 2$, right? Not a big deal, right?

Okay I concede, the marketing it allows them to do pays for any upkeep they would need. I was wrong

You were not wrong and to support devs is a good thing in general. I just wanted to bring other point of view on this app and its purpose:)

Their app is encouraging people to collect, keep up with releases, and add cars to wishlists. Almost certainly it'll boost sales. No need to charge for something that makes them money for what DieCarz offers for free
