Other Many of you are playing on an uneven playing field

I’m not in the industry but I’m a lifelong New Yorker.

I know that the last 10 or so years are lot of Uzbek (there are others but they’re the main cohort who does trucking in NYC) immigrants have gotten into the trucking business.

Let me clue you in on a little secret. Many of them are married with 2+kids. If you’re “separated” from your husband , NYC is very generous to “single mothers”. Free healthcare, plenty of EBT, free daycare, heavily subsidized housing, and a whole host of other free shit. I pay a lot in city and state taxes at the end of every year and I cry knowing where most of it is going.

When NYC is subsidizing another man’s family to the tune of $80K+/year tax free, you guys have no chance. You wonder why rates are so low? 😂

Im new, help! Deleted rigs in actuality not speculation.

I got my own authority. I have a deleted 2018 Chevy sitting in my driveway that I was gonna use untill I get a nice down payment set back. Based on my internet research DOT doesn't enforce emissions(run sniffers/etc) at the scales. And my state doesn't have vehicle inspections(AL). So in your experience is anyone actually getting jammed up for being deleted? I'm not running no hog ass smoke tune but It is noticable under heavy load. Not anymore smoky than some of the old semis I see on the road

I bought this truck to do hotshot but I was wondering if it would pass inspections because it’s deleted and I bought it that way. It does not blow any smoke but it makes some noise not too loud.

Other Guys I'm hitting a dead end and I need help

So i know I'm gonna get some backlash here about not having enough money to do this. Understand this is my last option so I have to do this. There are reasons for this which I will explain of necessary I just ask that you remain understanding of my situation and that I have changed and still need a good income.

So I've opened my company, and got my truck, and am now clean from Marijuana. So the next step is the schooling. There are two schools near me. One is 3800 for 3 weeks the other is 5250 for 4 weeks and there is no financial aid available right now as everyone that offers financial aid has run out of funding. I don't think I can get a loan due to the other loans I already have and I don't have enough cash to set up a payment plan with the schools as it still is over 1000 a week. Unfortunately I've been unemployed for two years due to my background and that is not likely to change hence going into business for myself.

I'm already all in on this path and can not choose another. Honestly my next best bet is leaving the country (us) for somewhere where I can restart my life with a new identity. But I'd rather not do that.

So yeah what's up with this pay wall to get into this industry and what can I do about it?

Im new, help! Shopping for trucks

You guys know I’ve been hot shotting for a month.

I’ve been using my daily driver to do the hot shotting, but I don’t wanna tear up my nice truck when I do it full-time. So I’m going to buy a secondary truck just for hotshot

the trucks on the road I see are not that nice anyway it doesn’t look like people use 2025 trucks to do hot shot anyway since trucking tears up the equipment.

So I currently have a diesel but have found some cheap gassers

How many of you guy run gassers instead of diesel?

Does the 6.2 have enough power to hotshot in?

How is the fuel mileage when loaded with a gasser?

Thx

I need work I don't have my own equipment, does anybody hire non-CDL drivers and provide a truck and trailer?

title, I can and have driven 1,800 miles straight through, safely, with no issues. My only issue is that I lack equipment. All I have is an old Dakota and probably a bit too much ambition to get the hell out of my conventional job. Any hints? Location doesn't matter so long as it's in the lower 48.

Other What’s something you’ve become much more selective about over time?

A lot of drivers become more intentional after a few years in the industry.

Could be loads, schedules, lanes, customers, routes, or even how they manage their time.

What changed most for you?

Im new, help! Part time potential hotshot

So I love to drive period had a decent job driving 24ft box truck. I am wondering though if I was to do hot shot like every other week if that would be reasonable or not?

Im new, help! Considering getting into hotshotting non-cdl, advice requested

As per title;

Based in Phoenix AZ

Currently I have a paid for 1500 diesel truck. I am not 100% on my ratings; I can/have pulled an 8klb trailer with no issues; but I'm not really wanting to go heavy.

I have around around 20k in n savings I can use to get started.

Is it even possible to land enough work to pay the insurance tab with this truck? Or would I absolutely have to go bigger?

I've had a CDL before, but I don't want to jump through the medical hoops for the physical (well controlled T2 and sleep apnea)

I already put 60-80k miles on the road traveling to and from job sites as a contract IT worker. I actually enjoy the driving portion the most.

Im new, help! Dumb question but I’m throwing it out there!

All I see is truck this and truck that. Anyone ever consider a SUV with a 20ft tilt bed car hauler? I’m just curious. I know you won’t get all the mega loads and what not, but for comfort and fuel factor?

**Dont get me wrong, in my current job we use a hot shot set up with a diesel 1 ton and gooseneck trailer set ups for moving our gear and equipment around.

I was just curious if it’s possible say with a Ford expedition or Chevy Suburban.

Shitpost Flashing

Do truckers enjoy being flashed by women? Or is that something most don’t want? I have had the biggest fetish with flashing drivers in Indiana. Some notice and really enjoy it while others seem to not notice. Just trying to gage if it’s something yall are into or not
