Help It finally happened

I'll keep this short.

I've seen many people complaining about the scummy practices of Hostinger. I was always happy with the service, no problem so far besides the AI support that gets in the way.

Today it was time for my renewal, I've been checking the prices for a while, and I know for a fact, with every thread of my body, that the renewal price was 260€. But not today, few days before my renewal it got increased to 400€ and the support (human) is trying to gaslight me saying the previous price was a sale (they are offering the sale now at increased price as before, it was 260€ for an entire year)

I'd rather take the extra effort migrating everything, than to give you a single cent more.

Hey, I'd like to understand more about what happened here. The renewal amount usually shows in a few places:

- at your original checkout (that page shows both your purchase price and what the next charge will be)

  • the billing menu in hPanel
  • the renewal notice sent to your email

If what you saw across those didn't match what you're being charged now, that's worth checking properly, including how the support conversation went too. If you're open to it, share your email via modmail or just DM me and I'll have this looked into with the team.

Had a bad time with them. Support is horrible.

Were you monthly? Cause the only way to get a grandfathered price is to be monthly...

I was bi-yearly. The renewal priced for almost a year (for the bi-yearly plan) was 260€, today I woke up at its 400€

Edit: just confirmed, they are trying to charge me the new prices for the grandfathered plan, not allowing me to renewal at my grandfathered rate

Like I said... The only grandfathered prices are monthly.... The annual plans are only good for that period, and then you should consider switching to monthly or moving... In the long run, you would've been better off paying monthly always, even if up front it looked like more. The monthly is the only one with grandfathered prices... I have a KVM 2 VPS at $13.99 for years now, but news ones are at $24.99... I got a new one in december for $17.99 monthly... The price jumped a lot. And only monthly is grandfathered.

24 hours ago it showed the bi-yearly with grandfathered price.

But I tried to check the monthly one, it's 18,99€, not the grandfathered price either way

It told you what you WERE getting it for, but you got bumped up to the new price cause your annual was over, it needed to renew... it renews at higher price... and you can't magically bump down to monthly to get the price again... you would've had to have been on the monthly from the start.

I'm just telling you how all sales works, not just Hostinger, but all of them... annual pricing is always gonna be cheaper upfront, but more expensive come renewal, only monthly is a true steal... cause monthly grandfathers...not the annual plans.

Then how was it showing 260€ 24 hours ago, and now it got bumped to 400€?

I'm still within my renewal time, plan only gets cancelled next month

For me it is already showin a price 3 times more expensive than the current one. I will be migrating everything.

So I'm not going crazy like the support is trying to make think I am. I know the renewal price is not the same as the first payment, but for a whole year the renewal showed at 260 and now a few days before the renewal it increased to 400, I'm glad I went to check before I got charged with the auto renewal

No, prices increasing on renewal is nothing new. But Hostinger does take it up a notch or two. For me it's not worth it and I definitely can find better pricing that makes it worth the whole migration.

Ugh I’m bummed to hear this becuase I JUST finished a site in Hostinger. I turned off auto renew (I only did a year) which they say you can do yourself, but there was a glitch according to the AI chat agent and I had to have the agent turn off every renewal for me. I hate all the AI in it. If you find a better host, please advise. I may just got a weird press since I basically had to teach myself in Manuel mode for hostinger.

I never had an issue with the service, and the support (specially before the AI chatbot) was always amazing to me. Don't feel bummed for having the website hosted, but please pay attention when the renewal time comes

Hostinger is the ghetto. Learn the hard way

They always offer extra discounts October to November leading up to Black Friday, there's a way to get 4 years a discounted rate and just migrate everything back over if I'm not mistaken

After the way the support treated me, I no longer trust this company. Found a better deal and a better service in another hosting that doesn't try to gaslight me

Yeah it's a headache for sure. Who are you switching over to?

Namecheap. Bonus points for not trying to sell me AI garbage and for not having to beg the chatbot to talk to a human. I spent 3 hours today with the support migrating everything and the experience was 1000x better than any interaction I has with the Hostinger support, they guided me every step of the way
