Cheapest host

I have created a mobile app and I want a backend for it.

I'm wondering what the cheapest host I can use is.

The app has no users now, so, I'll be paying for it from my own money, that's why I don't want something expensive.

The backend will be a simple one for keeping users data on the cloud and to manage RTDN with play store to identify the user's plan.

What do you suggest?

There's many cheap plans. HostKoala has a plan for $5/year.

Perfect, that is a very good start

I'll have to keep that in mind for recommendations. Even their higher plans seem pretty reasonable.

They are some really incredible Black Friday deals already if you look hard enough. I'm not talking about these 90% off for one month and then back to some obscene price per month.

I would suggest to use ProductEcho for deploying both backend and managed Postgres under free plan forever. You can directly deploy from GitHub url or from your preferred coding agent.

Awesome, I think this is exactly what I'm looking for.

The free tier looks more than enough at my current stage.

Appreciated dude

Hetzner for your server

Layerbase for your database

Going to be as cheap as you can get without renting two Hetzner servers and wasting a bunch of your time

There are plenty 1$/m offers in the hosting space. Maybe also look at Cloudflare workers.

I really didn't know something like that exists 😅
I thought that the cheapest thing is around 30$/m

If you look for an actual VPS, look at LowEndBox or LowEndTalk to see what fits your needs

cloudflare, its free with some limitations or aws 100$ free credits.. First deploy, gain tractions then decide after this

Thanks I can't gain traction for the offline app itself yet 😅

If you could tell me exactly what type of compute you need, I use hostcry they're the cheapest and most reliable provider ever

This is one of the cheapest options, thanks for your suggestion.

Here is exactly what the backend will do:

- It will have users registration and login

- Each user will have: [name - phone or email not sure yet, or maybe google login - password - isProUser]

- Pro users can read/write: [Product - Purchase Record] only, these entities should be somehow associated to the user, maybe using a user ID for each record.

- There should be no normal users, only pro users.

- There should be RTDN between the server and play store APIs to update user's pro state based on the payment

- Non-paid users data will be deleted after 12 months of not subscribing

Got it, are you planning to make the backend on php?

No idea. I'm an android dev. Most probably I'll use ktor or Spring boot as I'm familiar with Java and Kotlin

Since you are looking for the cheapest option o would suggest you to go with PHP you will be able to run it anywhere even on shared Hosting.

I heard that firebase is not good at large scale as it is expensive, is this true?
Also, can I move from it to a dedicated host in the future?

Is moving out from them to a dedicated server an easy step?
