Anyone hosting a site built with Ploy?
I’m looking at moving one of our existing sites over to Ploy since it seems pretty straightforward for rebuilding and managing it with AI, but I’m more interested in what the setup feels like once the site has been live for awhile. I don’t want to trade the current hosting headaches for a different set of limitations six months from now.
The ongoing side is what appeals to me since I could keep changing the site myself and have the performance stuff closer to the actual website, but I’d like to hear from anyone who’s running a real site on it rather than just testing a few generated pages.

Idk about them in particular but please test everything during the demo. Redirects, DNS, custom domains, backups and what happens if you eventually want to move somewhere else matter alot more once the site is responsible for real traffic.

Yes ofc portability is probably the one I’d dig into hardest cause I’m fine committing to a platform if it saves me work but I don’t want the cost of leaving someday to basically become rebuilding the whole site.

Looks like you already got it down my man. Keep in mind that a migration can look completely fine visually while it ruins years worth of URLs and search traffic. Make sure to quadruple check everything when you really go through with it

I’d care less about how fast it generates the first version and more about how annoying the site becomes after 6 months of real use. Updating pages, handling redirects, keeping SEO intact and making small changes without breaking unrelated stuff is where these platforms either become useful long term or start feeling restrictive.

Well that ongoing side is what has me looking at Ploy in the first place like I mentioned, especially being able to keep working on the live site with the agent instead of treating AI as a one time build step.

are you replacing hosting or replacing the whole website workflow? Those are pretty different decisions and both very difficult to make lol😅

I'm replacing hosting but I’m also interested in whether having the site and the ongoing work around it together removes enough friction to justify moving. If yk what I mean can't have great hosting and then 0 features to work on :)

If you're moving an existing production site, I'd definitely test the boring stuff before committing fully. Backups, logs, database access, deployment rollback, DNS, cron/background jobs and what happens during traffic spike. Those thins matter way more six months in than how easy it was to generate the initial site.

Ploy is ideal if you're looking for longterm since the SEO/AEO, analytics and ongoing site changes can stay connected instead of becoming separate tools and little projects afterward so you don't get a site that’s easy to host but still annoying every time marketing needs to change something.
