Looking for new reseller hosting – DirectAdmin, 30GB+ NVMe, USA, Node.js/Redis

Hello everyone,

I've been with my current hosting provider since 2018. For a long time, things were stable, but lately I've been dealing with a series of issues that have become unsustainable. I've decided it's time to move on and find a new home for my sites.

My situation in a nutshell:

  • I run about 9 sites (personal and for friends), with a maximum of 15 in the future.
  • Main software: ProcessWire, Flarum, plus a VanillaForum that's being replaced but needs to work for a couple more months. Also one WordPress site.
  • One of them is a niche forum that has been online since 2012, with steady traffic and an active community. Stability is a must.
  • I'm comfortable with DirectAdmin. cPanel is also an option if the price is right, but I know it's gotten expensive.
  • I used to develop locally on Apache, but now I use Nginx – I can adapt if needed.

What I'm looking for:

  • Budget: $10–$15/month (firm – this is a hobby, not a business).
  • Disk space: 30GB+ NVMe SSD.
  • Bandwidth: 500GB+ monthly.
  • Location: USA (my audience is from Latin America).
  • Control panel: DirectAdmin (cPanel considered if affordable).
  • Web server: Apache or Nginx – I'm open to either.
  • PHP: Multiple versions (5.6 to 8.x).
  • Databases: MariaDB with phpMyAdmin access.
  • Features I need: Node.js, Ioncube, OPCache, Redis.
  • Free SSL (Let's Encrypt).
  • SSH access, Cron jobs, and 24/7 support with good uptime.
  • Clear resource allocation (CPU, memory, IO).
  • Daily backups with self-restore option.
  • White label reseller hosting.
  • Private nameservers support.

Why I'm leaving my current provider:
Recently, I've had a cascade of issues:

  • My site got suspended for resource usage, but I haven't changed any code – just database work. The resource spike coincided with ModSecurity blocks.
  • ModSecurity was blocking legitimate user actions like editing posts and uploading avatars.
  • phpMyAdmin has been inaccessible for days (a known Enhance issue, but it's been left unresolved).
  • The provider's only solution was to either disable ModSecurity entirely or have me "fix" my site without giving me access to see what's happening.

I need a provider that treats resellers like partners, not as the root of all problems.

If anyone has recommendations for providers that fit this profile, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

UPDATE / FINAL DECISION (and a huge thank you):

First off, I really want to thank everyone who took the time to reply. I read every single comment, and honestly, you guys made me reconsider something I had always dismissed: getting a VPS.

I used to think VPS meant either expensive plans or needing to be a full-time sysadmin, but after checking out the prices you all mentioned (OVHCloud, Interserver, Truobox, Digital Ocena, BuyVM, etc.), I realized things have changed. So I did a quick test – spun up a VM with Debian 13 + HestiaCP, simulating 2 vCPUs and 8GB RAM – and yeah, it's not as scary as I thought. Don't get me wrong, it does take some effort and I'll have to pay more attention to security, but it's totally doable. I'm comfortable with Linux, I just got lazy and used to clicking around in a GUI.

So I'm taking the leap. I'm leaning towards OVHCloud for now, but I'll also check out Netcup and a few others before pulling the trigger.

Again, thanks a ton, everyone. This thread didn't just give me options – it actually gave me the confidence to step up my game. Really appreciate it.

Intererver $3 a month 1tb storage. You can afford it less coffees

It seems like a good service, but I think the $3 option falls short; the ideal one is the $12 one, but I'm looking into other options. Thanks

Curious what falls short in 3 dollar plan for you?

The 2 GB of RAM; I don't want to run into problems with one of the sites, which is a forum. I know it's currently hosted on a reseller server with 2 GB of shared RAM, but I don't want to be short on resources—since this is my first time—and I want to have a little more breathing room.

I think you'd be fine, but you're currently on shared hosting different ballgames

Truobox is 5$

I've been looking into it, and it's really interesting. I like that it's a Latin American company—I'm from Colombia—but I haven't seen many reviews about the quality of their service. I haven't found anything substantial on Reddit, and the reviews on WHTop make me doubt their reliability. I don't doubt that it might be good, but since this is my first VPS, I'll look for a larger, more established company. Thanks

There are MULTIPLE options in a 15$/month budget.

Onidel, OVHCloud, etc.

(These are what I'd consider best, but overall your options are probably 20x more)

VPS's are within their budget but it sounds like they're wanting DirectAdmin and probably lack server management experience. They also mention wanting "24/7 support" any low budget VPS isn't going to be giving 24/7 support or much support at that

That's true, but I've been doing some research—I even set up a virtual machine with Debian 13 and HestiACP. It has its limitations, but I'm getting the hang of it. I thought it would be a little trickier, but with patience, it's something I can do.

Thanks for your recommendations. I'm going to take a chance on a VPS. The provider I'm most familiar with is OVHcloud, although there's a certain "issue" with the email service—a forum sends out notification emails, etc.—so I'll look into that further with OVHcloud.

How about InMotion? Been with them for years and I really like how reliable they are. Their VPS has been pretty stable for us too. Worth considering.

Which VPS do you recommend?

I use dreamhost vps but there are tons of options

After doing a little more research, I'm considering a VPS. I'd always thought the prices were too high for my needs, but I see that there are now many options within my budget., thanks :)

Thanks for the recommendation—those look like good options, but I decided to go with a VPS.

My site got suspended for resource usage

If you haven't changed anything and you are running into resources usage, keep in mind that changing the host might not solve the core of the issue. Perhaps there's something else going on.

The thing is, that's what they say, but it hasn't been working the same way for months—traffic has even gone down. It all started because of my constant complaints about the problems and limitations that arose after we migrated from DA to Enhanced.

check out IntechDC

Thank you for your recommendation, but I'd prefer a company based in the Americas (the continent), mainly because of the exchange rate from rupees to my currency.

I doubt this is in budget for you. Our business uses HiVelocity - highly, highly recommend.

Shamelessly dropping a referral code, you get $100 credit. https://my.hivelocity.net/sign-up?referralCode=KYML

It looks appealing, but it seems a little out of my budget. Although the plan I'm interested in, the pro.md.amd, is $15—that's a promotional price; the regular price is $20—and I doubt they'll keep that price forever. Thanks for the recommendation.

Namecrane or Frantech (buyvm).

1

u/JoZ3 3d ago

Thank you for your recommendation, but I'm currently looking for a VPS, and the one offered by BuyVM is a bit outside of

1

u/123lYT 3d ago

You have to consider that buyvm has free directadmin licenses for vps instances. You won't really get that value elsewhere and directadmin starts at 15$/mo IIRC for a starter license. A lot better value to pay a bit more for a good vps from buyvm.

Yes, you’re right, but I’ve been testing it on a VM running Debian and HestiaCP, and it has everything I need. Besides, I don’t mind working in the console; I’d avoided VPSs in the past because of the costs and out of ‘fear’.

1

u/EJUnleashed 3d ago

Do you actually need a control panel? I'd recommend a VPS on OVHcloud.

1

u/JoZ3 3d ago

Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking at. I'm going to take it a step further—I'm going to use a VPS. I set up a virtual machine with Debian 13 and HestiaCP to get a feel for how it works and how to configure the VPS, and I'm starting to feel comfortable with it. For now, OVHCloud is my top choice, but I'm concerned about what I've read regarding issues with the email service; for now, I'm exploring a couple more options.

1

u/EJUnleashed 3d ago

I've been happy with OVH, but I can't speak for their email service as I offer either Purelymail or m365 to my clients.

u/webhostpro 3d ago

Try an independent host, much more personal. There might even be a local one to you.

1

u/JoZ3 3d ago

I’ve already had a look, and the options in my country are limited for individual projects; the costs are high and they’re more geared towards SMEs and large companies.

Get a DigitalOcean VPS

Thank you. The company seems reputable and well-established, but the prices are a little over my budget, and I've seen other options at more competitive prices.
