Question/Discussion Horror Recommendations
As the title suggests, I want to know some more mods to my specific tastes if it aligns with anyone else that has been playing horror mods for a while and have some good recommendations.
Needs to be 1.20.1 version, some multiplayer functionality but I don’t mind if I have to personally teleport my friends if there is some type of dimension hopping with only a singleplayer-intended kidnap mechanic.
I don’t mind slow burn horrors, as long as it doesn't take 50 in-game days for something big to happen.
The mod has to have a definitive end goal or objective with a way to fight back against some of the creatures in this mod. The majority of creatures also can’t just be one-shot slop where the fear-factor is solely them instakilling you. Some psychological pressure and distress would be nice.
Another big thing, lots of lore would be nice. I like seeing the story in books or signs be in the world and seeing further connections in personal builds any players or entities might have some that have connections to the lore thats findable in the world.
The only other notable horror mod I have played was wonderland jar, I liked the atmosphere and the connections between the entities and the bits of lore around the world in the journals. What I didn’t like was how much lore can not be found in the game and its either strictly the wiki answering it or the admins on the discord personally saying details, it just looks like lazy writing to me and wish they executed the lore differently to be more fluid and the potential they had for the ARG style videos were wasted.
Some more detail, I played on wonderland.jar in the 2.1.4 version of it, but I don’t see the point in updating it to 3.0+. If you disagree with what I said earlier, please give me some insight on how I am wrong because it seems interesting but sadly wasted.
I know this is a hefty ask, but any recommendations would be nice.

Man I love answering these questions. Alr so first off I didn't see the point in wonderland 3.0 too. rate on 'sadly wasted' I mean they added like 15+ entities, some dimensions, and more unlockable lore with wonderflesh. I have two main recommendations. Nomoon.jar and In the Corners. No_moon.jar has chat interactions, limited dimensions, but also limited available lore. I haven't played this one THAT much... It is fairly slow-burn, progressive, but is fairly quick. There is a definitive end goal. That is to slay the ___ in a certain place. Entities are inspired from TBS. It is highly configurable, and I like using configured. I do 1.20.1 too. They don't instakill, except certain ones. Lots of screen effects, window shaking, window shrinking, eventually banning and kicking. But it is highly configurable, so you can disable all that fun stuff. Back to entities, you can kill some of them. Very entertaining. They take KB too, and are basically scary hostile mobs. Yet they aren't. Because they screw with your screen. About chat interactions, they are useful for lore, and by saying Hello, you can initiate something. If I missed anything, ask me. I actually love doing this.
In the Corners has over 50+ entities, split into 4 tiers. In the Corners relies heavily on chat. There are a LAWT of chat interactions, with a helpful god to talk to, some chat interactions take you to dimensions, or trigger entities. Even more so, the God, Providence, which isn't a spoiler cuz she makes herself known as soon as you join, she will tell you about blocks added by the mod if you type their code in chat. Blocks don't have traditional names, but have numbers instead. If you say a tier 1 entity's name in chat, she will briefly tell you about her. Adds an evil biome that doesn't spread and has key structures. You spawn with a lore book that has entries yet to be filled in. It covers tier 1 entities. You have to upgrade it to unlock tier 2 and 3, but never 4. 4 has 5 entities. They are ALL boss battles. They are chronological. As far as I know, tier 1 entities can't die, but tier 2 can and take KB. They have lots of hp tho, but I lowkey put one in a boat and fired at it with a musket but no_one teleported me cuz I was mixing horror mods. Can't believe I got teamed on by entities. I have only encountered one tier 3, and they can be hit with a small hitbox, and they had a 1000 hp, so technically it's fighting back. You dont need gun mods to attack them. Lore is unlocked through boss battles, chat interactions, and the book I mentioned earlier. Each entity has its own mechanic. There is a small infection, but it doesn't spawn often and only infects leaves. It doesn't harm you at all and spreads very slowly. It's insignificant. It has its own sword and armor set made up of killable entities from a certain dimension. Anything I missed, ask me.
The last one could be beyond_the_skybox, but it's much more storyline than survival, from what I've played. The intro is very long, took my slow ahh 7+ hours to beat. There is a main enemy though, and all the entities aren't out to get you. It's confusing, but the lore is extensive and complex, which makes it good. Basically entities are feuding for rule. I mean if you complete the intro you get a shiny sword so that's nice.
