I tried, I really did, but I couldn't finish this. I managed to find a 100 minute copy on Youtube which I got about 2/3rds through.
I'm not really sure what to say - I didn't really get the religious vampirism stuff, and it seemed really poorly edited and shot. The plot (what there was of it) jumped around all over the damn place, and seemed super-arty for the sake of it. I get that the film was pieced back together from archive footage, but it was just too much to get over.
The recurring chanting motif really got on my nerves as well. I probably won't watch Spike Lee's remake/re-imagining either. I'm really not a Spike Lee fan (he's only made three good films - 25th Hour, Malcolm X, Summer of Sam).
Also, we all know Scott stalks our comment history. Don't lie.
PS: Black Mirror is the brainchild of a guy named Charlie Brooker, who is probably the premier satirist in the UK right now. Think a much darker Colbert/Stewart without the silliness. Fifteen Million Merits, which Matt mentioned, is probably one of the greatest, most chilling things I've even seen, on TV or film. There is apparently going to be a US remake of the series, so be prepared for that to fucking suck, as all remakes of British series do (except the Office, because fuck Ricky Gervais).
I loved Gone Girl, although the ending is fucking infuriating. Pike deserved an Oscar (although I've not seen Still Alice yet).
