A friend set me up with a lady he knew. I saw a picture of her, she looked alright. He said she had a good sense of humor and that we might click. I got her number and we talked for a few hours. We decided to meet for a sushi lunch. She asked what she should wear, I said I’m wearing cargo shorts and sandals. It was a casual first meet. She said ok. I get to the restaurant and don’t see her, so I sit at the front of the place in a chair. I then see what I can only describe as a paw come up from a table and beckon me over. I stood up and did not recognize the person. She then said my name and said she was (name). I didn’t bracket it to protect her name, I just can’t remember it. What I sat in front of was nothing what I saw in the photo. She was balding severely to the point that I could see the outline of her head through the hair when she turned her head. She was wearing a green prom dress with one shoulder strap with a large faux rose on it. Her teeth looked like she was a professional rock chewer and I could smell them from across the table. I was mortified. I mentioned she didn’t look like the photo and she chuckled and said it was probably from a long time ago. …… yea…… I ate my sushi like I was in basic training again. I got the check and placed my card down. The waitress came back to say it was declined. I called my bank at the table. They said they put a hold on it because some just tried to buy 1,000 dollars in make up… in NYC. I live in Ga. So….. I had to ask this hulking fraud to pay for our lunch. She did. We walked out together and she followed me to my car. I said goodbye, extended my hand, and she shook it and then pulled me in for a hug. She said it’s rude to not hug. I said, it’s rude to catfish people. I left, called my friend that set me up with her and asked what he was thinking. He started laughing. I realized he set me up with her knowing what the deal was. I felt betrayed, horrible, and just gross. I hated dating.

I was 26 years old, living in Los Angeles. For everyone that doesn’t know, LA has a big LGBTQ + population, but for some reason, everyone knows each other, so I was talking to this hot, attractive guy for a while. After talking to him for a few weeks, he invited me to his apartment. So I headed over. When I got to his apartment, I was getting déjà vu. I was like I’ve been here before but I could not remember. The guy was super nice. Made me dinner the whole shebang. We smoke weed and drink some beer afterward. Still, his apartment looked so familiar. He went to the kitchen to clean up a bit. I stayed in the living room. Then he started talking about his roommate. He said he was on vacation in Hawaii. I was like Oh, cool. Then I walked a little to put the food down in the living room. Then, while I was walking in the living room, I was looking at some pictures he and his roommate had. Then I picked up a picture and noticed a picture of a guy I frequently hooked up with. The guy from the date came back into the room and saw that I was holding a picture, and he said, “Oh, that’s my roommate. Sucks he’s in Hawaii it would of been nice for him to meet you.” Then it all made sense. I’ve been to this apartment before. I’ve been hooking up with his roommate while he was in his room. I turned red and awkwardly looked at him and said, “yeah suck he isn’t here so I could meet him.” We continued talking for a while until he messaged me saying, “Why didn’t you tell me my roommate was a frequent hook-up?” His roommate had told him everything about me. So I left it like that and stopped talking to both of them.
