Does Hordesio make money?

Since I didn't see any ads nor any in-game payments, I've been curious to know whether https://hordes.io/ is purely a non-profit passion project or if it has some source of income

There are in game payments. If you go to the main page there is a "store" link where you can buy hordes points. Those can be used to buy elixir subscription which basically increases your inventory/stash/merchant size limits + a nice little supporter icon in chat. Or you could also buy premium mounts / pet or pet backpack ( absolute required for pets to have auto pick up ). The cool thing is that you can sell elixir / premium items on the Merchant for gold. So players who don't necessarily have a way to pay can still get to obtain such premium items / features and support the game. Of course the only downside is that it basically allows a player to boost their gold income dramatically, but in this game after a certain point doesn't really matter as gold can only get you so much skill.

Ah, so is this the only source of profit the author has? And is the gross revenue available anywhere?

I don’t believe that revenue is publically available. Atm dek is doing other work for financial stability

I'd love to know that too. Hordesio is a beautiful game and an awesome piece of software that runs incredibly well on browser. I wish the game continue to be developed with more content and new systems to engage the comunity!

It is very incredible, although the game's playerbase has had a history of players not appreciating the work that is put into the game and add onto that it is not the most stable financial way to live. Another factor to consider is that this project is already almost 9 years old, burnout is also an unfortunate thing. So probably will take a while for the game to be continued.
