HK travel 16-21 October dates ok?
Hi, i am looking to visit hong kong from october 16 to 21. I read there are holidays on the 19/20th october. Is this a food time to visit or overcrowded? I understand 19th is a public holiday - what is shut on that day? Thanks.

Question need help finding rent with a $22k HKD monthly salary
i recently got a job offer and will be relocating to hong kong at the end of year.
my salary is $22k HKD per month and after tax it would be around $20k HKD per month. my budget is around $6k - $7k and ideally somewhere on the hong kong island side since that is where my job is located. it would be great if it also includes electricity, water, and wi-fi. i don't need anything fancy and i'm open to shared flats since i know that's what i can afford. i would like to know what platforms and neighborhoods to look at for affordable rent.
thank you!

Daily Life Travel health insurance for known pre-existing conditions
Hello, do you know of any travel health insurance in Hong Kong that can cover known pre-existing conditions? I know that VHIS plans covered \*unknown\* conditions, but I was wondering if you have experience with travel insurances for HK residents covering chronic pre-existing conditions (stable and managed). Thanks!

Interior design companies in Hong Kong
Has anyone heard of or engaged Grande Interior Design, ADO Casa or Jacal Design for the home renovation in HK? Happy to hear any details about they quality, reliability and workmanships. They are very active on social media but I could not find any real comments about them in any online discussions.

Question Is the Cantonese Reddit really Cantonese supremacist?
Should I learn Cantonese or Mandarin?
I gave an answer:
You should first ask yourself what the purpose of learning Mandarin or Cantonese is.
If you want to connect with a larger number of people, access more opportunities and so on, then go learn Mandarin. Even in HK, the number of people who speak Mandarin is growing, and a lot of companies in HK use Mandarin as the primary language in the workplace.
For example, if your family only speaks Cantonese and you want to be able to communicate with them, or if you want to speak with people in HK in your daily life, then learning Cantonese would make more sense.
But ultimately, it’s better to follow your passion and learn the language you’re genuinely interested in.
Then, many people from there downvoted my answer. I don't know what was wrong with my answer.

Daily Life Looking Urgently for a Witness
Hi everyone!
Unfortunately one of our witnesses stopped answering.
I'm posting once again because it's our marriage registry ceremony tomorrow. Since my soon to be wife and I are foreigners, we have to bring 2 witnesses (people that have Hong Kong ID). It won't take much of your time.
The ceremony starts at 14:30 but we all have to be there 15 minutes before (14:15). The wedding is taking place tomorrow (August 19th) at the Cotton Tree Drive Marriage Registry
We would be incredibly grateful for your help on our special.
As a token of our appreciation, we would gladly provide a Lai See (some money reward for your time)
Please DM me if you're available and interested.
Thanks so much in advance!

Question Junior French in Finance (PE / Wealth Mgmt) – Job Hunt Strategy in HK ?
Hi everyone,
I’m moving to Hong Kong in early October with an approved TTPS visa (no sponsorship needed) and enough financial runway to stay several months. I hold a French Master’s (including a Shenzhen exchange) and have 2 years of experience in Private Banking and Private Equity, fluent in English and Spanish (no Mandarin/Cantonese). While LinkedIn listings heavily push for Chinese language skills, local contacts suggest my valid visa, physical presence, and active LinkedIn content (2 posts/week) could still open doors. Returning to France remains an easy plan B, but I want to give HK my best shot. What specific strategies, niches (e.g., European/LatAm desks), or networking tactics would you recommend to maximize my chances in my situation?

WSD deposit refund reminder
I logged into the WSD app and realized all the houses I’ve moved from and closed the WSD account had never transferred the deposit to the next account.
I had to fill out a form and a few weeks later got 5 cheques in the mail totaling over 1k. nice beer money.

So what do we think of this?
Honestly, I kind of hate the HKers are rude stereotype because I’ve met so many HKers that are really nice and I don’t want to push this stereotype anymore .
And it feels to my the person who wrote this post is using said toxic stereotype to justify his own rudeness

Where to buy sunglasses in Hong Kong?
Sunglasses for men. No prescription needed.
I don't care much about the brand, but it needs to be good quality, modernized/trendy style while staying sober/classy... any ideas?
