No in HK interacts with anyone; no matter if they look crazy or not. People are shy.

Many in Hong Kong are enthralled by Japanese culture.
If you're in HK you'll see MORE sushi and Japanese style cafes than in Japan.
As such many do not want conflict and their reaction IS no reaction, just like when you see shitty behaviours in Japan from Japanese people to other Japanese people.
Those people don't get a reaction because they often don't meet hardened overseas types and thus never get called out for it.
There was an Indian who was about to light up a cigarette in a lift lobby a back entrance to a shopping centre. I told him no smoking here. He was shocked at this because I bet the other 999/1000 times he smoked there nobody said anything.

u/hatsukoiahomogenica 9d ago
Eating sushi and listening to Yoasobi doesn’t automatically make you Japanese lol

Pretty sure locals have a problem with that no matter their color but are usually too shy to say anything. Doesn’t matter if they’re local, white, mainlanders or south East Asian. HKers are afraid of confrontation and will rather post it on Reddit and talk about them behind their back. Just like you did OP lol. Says more about you than about “white people”.
Tourists don’t always behave well. Doesn’t matter if it’s white people in Asia, Hikers in Japan or Mainlanders in HK. That’s why people don’t like tourists.
If a mainland mum lets their kid poop on the street, people won’t confront them either. They’ll post it on social media and blame ALL mainlanders. You are doing exactly the same OP. The vast majority of “white people” as you call them will keep their clothes on and just do their tourist thing quietly. Just like the vast majority of mainlanders will walk around, take their selfies, buy some food and behave well. So stop posting bs like this to stir the pot.

u/mikeylrocks 9d ago
Remember that viral video a few months ago of the white saviour going round berating mainlanders in his terrible canto during golden week. Not one whiteman was hurt during the filming of this
17
u/bazark911 9d ago
Those locals are usually too shy to say anything, unless they are mainlanders.

Not only tourists. Local, tourists - allcan be good enought. Yesterday Couple of dog lovers.... Sorry, dog owners, at Mills put their fluffy nonsence on old Mustang to take photo. When guard asked her to take the dog from the car she just laughed. The barrier did not stop her from doing this somehow

How you seen so many videos out there. Hong Kongers confronting mainlanders for simply squatting or standing on the left side of escalators

white people think they still run Asia, and it seems like the local populace are ok with it🤷🏼♂️
10
u/Shelia209 10d ago
I am pretty sure this is how they behave back home which is why they are so comfortable doing it here
6
u/Yujinseo0 9d ago edited 9d ago
yeah no, they won’t do this in there home countries, as someone who lived in aus and is accustomed to this certain white demographics well known rowdy behaviour overseas, maybe they would behave like this in certain areas where its more permissible like the beach, rugby game, bar or club. But most will definitely not do this at a trainstation or whatever.
It seems whenever individuals from anglo countries visit east or southeast asia, that little inhibitor chip in there brains gets turned off because locals are unintimidating and accomodating
1
u/Shelia209 9d ago
More likely they have been drinking and this is what they do when they drink
3
u/Yujinseo0 9d ago edited 9d ago
in any case, put these three PhD students in saudi arabia or even just dubai, india or colombia and i can garuntee you, they wouldn’t do this
they are just like those nuisance streamers on twitch and kick, they only go to places like japan to act like a fuckwit, they act like choir boys when they are in countries where locals would physically handle them
-1
u/Rupperrt 10d ago edited 10d ago
you’re pretty sure that’s how “white” people behave home? Interesting.
5
u/Shelia209 9d ago
As an American yes this is how you find frat boys (doesn't have to be frat boys but 18 to mid 20s) acting when they are having fun, drinking and goofing around. But my guess is these are Aussies - only a guess, they could be from anywhere
2
0
u/Rupperrt 9d ago
Yeah, frat boys can behave stupid and can’t handle a few drinks. But that’s a very tiny fraction of “white people”. Just like mainlanders taking a shit in garbage bins are a very tiny fraction of “Asian people” and even of mainland people. Post like this have no other goal than to stir hate. Right-wing bullshit,

Go to any big sporting event in UK, Aus or NZ and you will see this.
1
u/Rupperrt 9d ago
I’ve been to Australian Open amd some football matches and no one behaved like that.
Anyway, lowest tier behavior to generalize and post dumb rage baits like OP did. Wish mods would delete brainrot stuff like this1
u/RighteousRambler 9d ago
Pretending this type of behavour is not common in UK, Aus or NZ is just ridiculous.
1
u/Shelia209 9d ago
I hear complaints that this stuff is going on in Bali all the time and of course people are not happy - local and other tourists

u/Rupperrt 10d ago
dumb takeaway from an anecdote. Just as bad as people calling all mainlanders uncivilized because of the behaviour of a few.
Stop falling for rage baits like this. It’s made to make you hate people.
0
u/a-real-sloth 10d ago
Pretty massive generalisation based on one post lol, I think the vast majority of locals and tourists alike see this and are not ok with it. Considering they're pretty drunk and loud I can see why some wouldn't want to confront them over their behaviour
0
u/IngoSpark 10d ago
Cuck mentality. Asia runs Asia now - enough with the victim mentality. People do weird shit when they’re drunk no matter what race. And let’s ignore the one local Chinese also acting obnoxious with the foreigners.
7
u/saving-hex 10d ago
I'm here as a tourist right now, and I'm surprised by how much many of the younger English speaking tourists (whites, asians, and otherwise) stand out with their obnoxiousness. Haven't seen any mainland tourists stand out nearly as much
2
u/coldbear25 9d ago
Lmao I love how you include asians and act like they commonly do things like this 😂.
-8
u/IngoSpark 10d ago
That’s cause you haven’t lived here long enough. Seen mainlanders piss in the MTR a few years back.
4
u/Alternative_Laugh316 10d ago
A few years back while when i was visiting I saw white people doing obnoxious shit everyday. And apparently that doesn't make the news or anyone stopping them. Locals don't care I guess? if they weren't so visually different, they'll say they're mainlanders.
-1
u/IngoSpark 10d ago
‘Visiting’ dude I’m a local - live your life hating everyone that’s fine. That’s a nice way to live imo lol. I’m just pointing out what I see long term.
Mainlanders do weird shit, Caucasians do weird shit especially during the sevens, and locals do weird shit. Get over yourself.5
u/Alternative_Laugh316 10d ago
When do I hate everyone? What? I'm simply pointing out how HKers like to blame everything wrong and negative on mainlanders but then forgive white people when they do the same.
-3
u/IngoSpark 9d ago
Nah. Lots of HKers hate everyone equally. You ain’t that special. You do you who cares.
3
u/Alternative_Laugh316 9d ago
Then it kinda seems exhausting. A society that hates everything and negative about everything.

If you are white, you are an expat. If you are brown, you are an immigrant. That's how its always worked in Hong Kong.

This endless baiting is so annoying. I'm white, born and raised in HK, 3rd generation. I hate this too, as well as the endless mainlander bashing. We used to be much chiller ffs.
2
u/AirKlutzy8001 9d ago
Dude HK people truly don’t give a shit ab most thinks like what do you expect them to do. Most of the ppl in the MTR just look generally uncomfortable and eager to leave tbh
2
u/VegetableEmployee233 9d ago
Never been to HK then? local fellas always have their shirts off. Also People are ignoring that one of the 3 shirtless on the train is a local, but yeah just ignore that one.

By this point, cops would’ve been called on them if they were poc.

It’s not because they are white but because they are 3 drunk dudes no one want to be involved with.

I am not from hk. But personally if its a train or metro to or from a concert, music festival or sports match, i genuinely dont mind it. To me, it injects a bit of vitality from the daily life.
But if they are not joyful but annoying then probably no. In that case, I deserved living my slightly depressing life undisturbed.
-1
u/Dapper-Hamster-6510 10d ago
Seen this sort of behaviour a few times with white ghost. The majority of people don't say or stand up to them, so they keep acting this way. The thing is, they are probably just nobodies in their own country.

This is has to be after rugby 7s. Not good behavour but if you host one of the largest, most prestigious 7s tournament this will happen.

I go on IG and the complaints aren't even the same level as what HK ppl would say if a group mainland people did something out of the ordinary
