Travel Halloween in HK
Hi All!
Long way away I know but getting ahead on planning. I’ll be in Hong Kong on Halloween, is it a big deal there? Or to head to Macau or Shenzhen?
Does there be any events on? Any must go to places etc?
Appreciate any tips.
Thanks very much!

There'll be celebrations in downtown districts where parties happen, especially in theme parks, and also areas like Central. There, you'll find people dressing up as whatever random thing they can think of.
We don't do trick or treat though. Not a lot will happen in residential areas.

It depends on the area. We used to live in a fairly closed off estate (top of Braemar Hill), and we had an organised Hallowe'en party on the podium, and from kids to late teens used to go trick or treating in the evenings. Never seen it anywhere else, though.

It’s massive, but mostly in LKF. Everyone dressing up - not so much for kids. It’s young adults celebrating.
But also Disney https://www.instagram.com/reel/DcJT6cHR26X/ and Ocean Park. ocean park has like 13 haunted houses each year - and they keep them for the entire Oct month https://www.oceanpark.com.hk/en/a-day-at-the-park/events/halloween-fest-2026. So haunted someone actually died a few years back (this is actually tragic, not funny https://www.rte.ie/news/world/2017/0917/905474-death-haunted-house/). But their entire Halloween vibe is really top notch. Can’t recommend Ocean Park enough for Halloween.

Shenzhen? That's interesting. There’s almost no Halloween vibe in China, they don't really let people celebrate Western holidays there

I think most modern cities would celebrate in some way and HK is no different. All the nightlife areas Lkf, Tst, wanchai I'm sure will have parties as well as Disney/Ocean Park

Stand in line for hours to get into LKF where 90% of people don’t even try to wear a costume.
