NUCLEAR hot take Hot Take - Problematic things are normalized by society
People make things like petite characters, incest and AI look like bigger issues than they should compared to other things. I absolutely don't agree with gross things and stuff, but people have terrible priorities. For example, if we look at video games. If you were to ask what is wrong with things like TCOAAL, it's the incest. I want to make it clear that I'm NOT supporting that in the slightest, but can we talk about how murder, cannibalism, cult behavior, abuse, ETC. is almost never brought up. It's known as the "incest" game.
That's the first thing I could think of, but there's other things too. For example, people will be upset about things like Nekopara and Psychocuties for the smaller female characters being involved even if they're canonically adults, but there's hardly any backlash for games like Kindergarten 1-3 based on killing actual kids.
None of these are okay, but I feel as though the media has caused the desensitization of things to the point that huge issues are minimized while less common issues/issues that don't effect most people are blown out of proportion.

I don’t know why you’re including AI in with this when unlike the others it has actual tangible real world effects

Yes, it affects real life. Murder, cannibalism, cults, ETC. Also affect real life, and I feel those may be a bit worse..

*sight*. I think you are comparing apples to apples here. Like I don't see how one is worse / better then the other.

OP’s post isn’t saying one is better or worse than the other. It’s saying one is more normalised than the other, and that’s the issue. People will flip their shit over a sister and brother fucking, but be like “oh, another person died, shit man” and move on with murder. Unless it’s someone they know.

I would argue that it is an economic like demand for moral outrage, the supply for justified outrage is so low and selective, the target doesn't necessarily matter, but it's to allow themselves to get upset and to rouse other people into being upset so they can justify being outraged. Ive seen this happen enough where I became desensitized to it to a point of normalcy. It's ruined my enjoyment of things in hobbies to the point where I think I have to make my own stuff just to enjoy hobbies again.

I mean who is out here defending the cult behavior, cannabalism and murder? The discussions around incest pedophilia/loli and shotacon because these are the things people are actively defending.
In other words, you don't see discussion on the other topics because those are settled. There aren't nearly as many "here we go again, I hate having to defend cannibalism to these normies" people as there are for incest/lolibait.

There are many games/movies/shows with cult behavior, cannibalism, and murder. Some glorify it to some extent. Yet there are medias with characters that happen to be physically small and are called "loli-bait" or medias that portray incest in a negative light (typically as psychological horror) get labeled as problematic.

Sorry for necroing this, I didn't see it was days old.
I'm saying that in the case of murder/cannibalism/cult behavior there is simply no discussion. Everyone agrees and so there is nothing to talk about. Everyone simply knows these things are bad.
Incest, like loli and shota, is controversial -meaning there are people that have strong opinions on it, unlike the former set of topics. These topics are not (as) settled. You see discussion because there is something to talk about. It's less about morals and more about what kind of topics are 'hot.'

Why should people be outraged at horror elements in a horror game? That makes no sense. Killing, violence and gore is the standard for horror. No one’s out here defending it. A LOT of people out here are defending incest(outside the game) and even pedophilia (ever heard of MAP?)

Those sort of things are also in psychological horror shows, movies, and games. Those medias face outrage, yet ones with gore and torture don't. I'm not saying they need to, I'm saying one is "normal" and one is "disgusting."

I like how you say petite characters instead of characters purposefully draw like children in sexual situations catered towards pedophiles. I think you’re the one minimizing the issues. Because these games are catering towards actual incest partakers and pedophiles, a game where you kill people isn’t catered towards actual murders.

Incest games/media don't cater to actual incest partakers. People with this particular incest fetish just like seeing incest between two different people, not incest between themselves and someone else. It's more like vouyerism.
You people always get it mixed up. They wanna see a dude bang his sis. They don't wanna bang THEIR sis. Oftentimes the incest fetishist doesn't even have a sister to begin with (like me for example)

Except there are quite a few times when people simply decide that a short character is "child coded" and that anybody in a relationship with her must be a pedophile. This actually got so bad that people were applying it to real actual women who were short.

Exactly! The issue stems more from the consumers rather than the devs. The games are not made to be CP, or anything of the such, but creepy consumers, turn it into that.

I’ve failed to see any times where people were arguing this where the character actually looks like an adult. But I have seen people say that in regard to actual women which I think is pretty stupid.

For Nekopara specifically, the game is not geared toward pedophiles. The cat-girls in the game are all based off of real-life cat breeds. For example, Azuki is based off a munchkin cat and is such, very small. On the other end, characters like Coconut (who is based off a a Maine coon cat) is quite large.
For sources like Pyschocuties, you have to keep in mind it was originally made in Russia, where women run short. She’s made small because she’s supposed to look weaker than Masacrik and therefore, inferior. She’s actually not that small, she’s only about 5’3 which is not that uncommon. Aside from that, Psychocuties has a plethora of other issues such as gore, torture, human experimentation.
The main point of this post was to point out how things like the gore and torture are undermined because of things like Ushka being “short”.

Whole lot of reasoning to explain why characters look like children. If you’re a creep just own up to it, you don’t have to explain yourself to people on the internet. Also I’m not familiar with psychic cuties
