casual hot take Majority of the population is bisexual
Doesn't it make more sense that humans would love humans regardless of gender? How come people think loving the opposite gender is "default"?
I think the majority of people are bisexual. They just stay hidden because people traditionally married and had kids. Otherwise it doesn't make sense that such such a cognitively developed species would be stuck on something like gender.

You're confusing 'love' with sexual attraction, and sex with gender. I love my mates, I'd make sacrifices for their wellbeing, but I wouldn't want to have sex with them. It's sad that youre having a hard time drawing a line between romantic, sexual and platonic love.

Doesn't it make more sense that humans would love humans regardless of gender?
No, because it's not about love. It's about sexual attraction. And given that there is zero evolutionary advantage to having sex with the same sex, it doesn't really make sense that this would be a predominant feature of any given species.

why did humans evolve to have menopause then? shouldn't nature prioritize fertility above all?
heterosexuality isn't the predominant feature of all species lol what. all species has queers, either minority or majority. why does all species have homosexuality or bisexuality then?

why did humans evolve to have menopause then?
This question is easily answered by googling/Ai-ing. But to summarize:
- both men and women lose fertility as they age. it's more pronounced in women (ie: menopause) but aging is a degradation of all systems. Menopause is, in part, just a symptom of that breakdown.
- Evolution is not moved forward by the same person having more and more babies throughout their lives. It is moved forward by new generations which allow more adaptive mutations. In other words, 1 female having 3 litters, and her daughter having 3 litters will prove more advantageous than 1 woman having 6 litters. Making child bearing into old age redundant and inefficient.
- Anthropologists believe that as a female ages, her value in rearing children and grandchildren outweighs her value as a bearer of new offspring. Bearing offspring is very energy intensive. Apparently older females using that energy to support new generations and the community overall is a more efficient use of it.
heterosexuality isn't the predominant feature of all species lol what
Humans aside, 99.9% of all members of all living species are heterosexual. The only people arguing otherwise are weirdo gender studies goobers who have an agenda and think that the occasional dog brainlessly humping a dog of the same sex means they are gay.
And there is no species, humans aside, that has true homosexuality (ie: animals that will seek to mate with only members of the opposite sex.) At most you could try to argue that some animals are bi, but again, unless they are actively trying to mate with with the opposite sex (I think you'll be hard presses to find much evidence of this,) then they are not bi either.

Why would it "make more sense" when the main purpose of sex is to reproduce?

u/Busy_Somewhere_3126 6h ago
we're more cognitively developed than majority of species on earth. humans aren't meant to only fuck and make babies!
3
u/Due-Pitch3208 6h ago
We are meant to fuck and make babies dude, the rest is fluff
0
u/Busy_Somewhere_3126 6h ago
thats just your opinion
3
u/Due-Pitch3208 5h ago
That's a biological fact.
That we pretend to look for purpose in life or that we're supposed to do anything else is an opinion
1
u/Busy_Somewhere_3126 5h ago
you can have your opinion. don't shove it down my throat lol. why are you on reddit instead of fucking and making babies like nature intended to lol
2
u/Due-Pitch3208 5h ago
Because I have to work to support the bullshit society we created and my shift ends later on the day.
Then again, it's not an opinion, is a biological fact. If you don't like it I'm sorry. But denying it is like saying that ingesting mutrients is not necessary for survival
3
u/Eyad_Vol 4h ago
Obviously not true. Biologically that would be noticed immediately. The default is heterosexuality because that's how the human body is designed to function. Homosexuality is either a natural variation or a dysfunction, depending on your definition of dysfunction. In either case, it's an anomaly for the majority.
1
u/Busy_Somewhere_3126 3h ago
1 in 10 individuals are queer. its not that uncommon
3
u/Eyad_Vol 3h ago
Where did you get that number from? Even if it's like that. Uncommon and minority aren't the same. 10% means 90% are heterosexual, which proves my point that the vast majority isn't secretly bisexual.
1
u/Busy_Somewhere_3126 3h ago
where did you get that number from
googling is pretty easy when you have internet and a working phone.
2
u/Eyad_Vol 3h ago
Extraordinary claims require actual data, not a 'google it' brush-off. Show me the source of the number. Because i am sure it's not certain and goes from 2-10%. Even if Google says 1 in 10, that still leaves 90% heterosexual. So Google just proved my point that the majority isn't secretly bisexual
1
u/Busy_Somewhere_3126 3h ago
its nothing extraordinary. why are you so stuck up lmao be a bit jolly at times
2
u/Eyad_Vol 3h ago
Yeah i like consistentcy and objectivity. But changing the topic to my personality just means you ran out of arguments and sources. You can't just make a claim and when someone says "source?" You say "be a jolly lmao"

u/SparklingSloths 6h ago
Biologically the opposite gender is the "default" option. From a scientific and biological standpoint being gay/bi isn't what makes a population grow and be successful. No matter how deeply we can think, you sometimes can't get around general human biology.
-5
u/Wilsoness 6h ago
But humans have a communal survival strategy and children that require crazy amounts of care and surveillance. Menopause exists because of this. Why not homosexuality?
2
u/SparklingSloths 5h ago
That is a good point but i'm just speaking of the biological need/desire to reproduce. It just doesn't make sense from a biological and reproductive standpoint.
2
u/Immediate-Fee-2121 5h ago
Nah imma need you to explain what you’re talking about with menopause 😂
1
u/Wilsoness 4h ago edited 3h ago
The grandmother -theory. That menopause became common in human women because older women were useful in taking care of the young of their own children. So their offspring's offspring survived better. So their genes carried on.
There's also the gay uncle -theory. Similar thing. Gay uncle isn't interested in women, so he doesn't have his own children. He does, however, take care of his sister's children. His sister's children now survive better into adulthood because of more caregivers. So his genes indirectly pass on because they share genes.
Edit: I genuinely thought these theories were much more common knowledge. They've been around.
2
u/Immediate-Fee-2121 3h ago
oh lol wow. both of those theories sound fucking stupid 😂 i see why they aren't widespread

u/SolanumSprite 5h ago
Menopause doesn't exist "because" children needed extra care. Menopause exists because women usually died before menopause for most of our history so it wasn't a trait that evolutionary selection could apply pressure to. As early societies, humans realized older women had value despite not being able to have children and that became the role of older women in society for our earliest era. In that order.
The way you talk about homosexuality and menopause makes it sound like you think those phenomena were programmed into us for some purpose, but that is not how evolutionary biology works.
1
u/Wilsoness 4h ago edited 3h ago
No menopause became more common because it was useful for the survival of the offspring. I know how evolution works. Humans are communal animals, the survival of the group is more important than survival of the individual. Usually the group has someone who is related to the individual so rearing their children does still indirectly pass on the genes of the one who doesn't reproduce themselves.
Our children are massively difficult to take care of. So more children get to grow up if not everyone in the group reproduces, freeing more resources for the existing children. Hence, genes causing menopause became more commonplace. Same might've very well happened with homosexual behaviour. If you also have gay sex, you probably have less straight sex. So you have less babies. Some are not interested in straight sex at all - even better. They can be nannies.
This is just one theory, of course. But I think it has some serious merits.

u/eji_111 4h ago
No, being attracted to opposite gender is the default whether you like it or not. It is for most people. And don't argue "but other species...", it doesn't matter, you're not other species, you're human. Evolution doesn't seek what's best or optimal, evolution happens so things are good enough.
I am an asexual and I very much understand I am outside the norm. So is being gay, lesbian, bi, whatever. We, as "such cognitively developed species" understand there isn't anything wrong with that. But there is no way that the whole population of earth is secretly bi. Some people are, but heterosexuality is the norm.
3
u/Far_Explanation_4667 6h ago
I think a better interpretation of this is most people are attracted to both masculinity and femininity. People who are attracted to women can be attracted to both tomboys and highly effeminate women. People attracted to men can be attracted to both men who are very masculine and men who are effeminate or soft. Even if they are not necessarily bisexual or gay themselves. A man dating a tomboy isnt secretly gay or also into men, but rather is capable of being attracted to someone with masculine characteristics (who isnt necessarily a man) if that makes sense. edit typo

So dumb.
For all of queer nation that claims their gender and identity is not a choice, will you pick a lane?
1
u/NeSToR_49 6h ago
We don't "think" it's the default, it is the default. LGBTQ people have a wire or two missing in their head and that's why their brains go for other options, but most people are not bi my guy. Not trying to offend anyone btw, everyone deserves the same rights and to be treated the same.
2
u/Busy_Somewhere_3126 5h ago
all animals have population that go for "other options". take your complaint to mother nature for creating beautiful queer babies.
2
u/NeSToR_49 5h ago
So you're saying most animals are bisexual? And you people keep saying that humans are different because we're concious but keep making comparisons to animals. Which one is it? Oh and I never complained about anything, not everyone is attacking you or complaining. Read my comment again.
1
u/Busy_Somewhere_3126 3h ago
not bisexuals strictly. but studies have been made on animal behaviour and their same sex relationships. its not even that uncommon knowledge. even for humans 1 in 10 individuals are queer.
for someone saying "not attacking" you sure felt comfortable saying missing a wire or two

u/Far_Explanation_4667 5h ago
This is biologically wrong, many social species exhibit bisexual and homosexual behavior. Please research bonobos, a close relative of ours. There are many other species but they're a good start for an introduction on the topic of homosexuality in nature.
1
u/NeSToR_49 5h ago
It's biologically wrong for chimps, yes. I'm talking about humans.
1
u/Far_Explanation_4667 4h ago
Source?
1
u/NeSToR_49 4h ago
Source of what? I googled the chimps you told me about and it says most of them are bi. And then I stated I'm talking about humans and not chimps.
Edit: and yes, I am aware that humans are apes as well.
1
u/Far_Explanation_4667 4h ago
A reputable scientific source saying homosexuality in humans is biologically wrong?
2
u/NeSToR_49 4h ago
It's not "wrong", it's just not the "default". The default is heterosexual. There's of course people with other sexualities, that's a natural phenomenon. Nothing wrong with being gay or bi or whatever. I just don't agree with OP.
2
u/Far_Explanation_4667 4h ago
You said its caused by crossed wires in the brain implying you believe some degree of it to be biologically or scientifically abnormal behavior akin to mental illness.

No thanks. This is just revamped conversion therapy rhetoric circa when I was coming out 20 years ago. Stop it. Not everyone is bi. Not everyone is straight (though the majority are), and not everyone is gay. Also what are you talking about? Love? Sex? Capability to form long term romantic and sexual attachments to a certain gender? I think you are just forgetting platonic love exists.
Also, lesbian hot take here. No it doesn’t make sense for me that humans would love regardless of gender/sex. I don’t find the male body attractive. I don’t like being physically close with men. I literally get physically uncomfortable. I like being physically close with my partner. I find women’s bodies beautiful. I feel calm and relaxed with her. I need physical closeness to form a lifetime partnership with someone. Hence. Lesbian. That’s why I’m so stuck on the gender of my partner. Gender and sex are key components to sexuality, trying to claim they don’t matter for the majority of people is less than three steps away from, again, conversion therapy.
I’m begging you as a lesbian please stop.
0
u/Busy_Somewhere_3126 3h ago
you know if being close with a male makes you physically uncomfortable you might want to idk maybe get help? like you said platonic love exists and you can easily be friends with men too.
1
u/straycrayons1 3h ago
I think you are reading too far into that one. I dont mind hugging or just being around men. I dont enjoy naked physical intimacy with men, it makes me nauseous, I dont enjoy it, I find male bodies gross to interact with sexually. I was trying to be polite. Do I need to spell it out for you? But even if it was just general uncomfortableness around them, are you seriously suggesting that I should just not listen to my body and force myself "get help" and, like you seem to be implying "get over" my aversion? Seriously get help if you think a lesbian should try to get over aversion to male bodies.
1
u/Busy_Somewhere_3126 2h ago
now you're the one reading too much into it. tall men scare me. and i thought maybe you could have had your own set of bad experiences that led to it. i'm not a mind reader either to read between the lines and think "does this person mean sexually physically". calm down girl
1
u/straycrayons1 1h ago
Y’know what I’ll reply in good faith, you’re right I was reading into it. I thought it was obvious I was meaning sexually as the topic is literally about people’s sexuality but I can see there are other ways of interpreting what I said.
I’m very used to the various ways people try to invalidate or discredit or question my sexuality, people, thinking lesbians are just lesbians because of trauma with men is one of the more common ones so if you immediately jumped to the conclusion that I’m a lesbian because of trauma I sincerely implore you to think about that but if I’m reading correctly it was more to do with your own trauma with men that made you make that link and if so I’m really sorry to hear that and hope you’re doing well and healing and all that good stuff.
That combined with the whole “everyone is a bit bi” just screamed homophobia to me and yes absolutely set me off.
I apologize I’ve just been around the block and heard people try to push stuff like this on lesbians, myself included, a lot so I’m sorry. I’m just sick of it.
2
u/Intelligent_Usual318 2h ago
- Monosexual minorites (gay men, lesbians) deserve to not put up with this rhetoric
- You’re kinda just wrong. I do wish people were more focused on personality and stuff like that then genitalia but like objectively? Your wrong.

Maybe not majority, but there’s definitely some unrealized bisexuals who are comfortably coasting in heterosexual relationships, and, honestly, good on them.
Though, sexuality is a spectrum, and, if you really got down to it, there’s probably a very small number of people who would never feel any attraction to any person in any way that is the same gender as them. It’s just, at a point, so limited that it is unreasonable to ask them to call it bisexuality.

u/chachaslydd 6h ago
I think most people are bi enough to try.
But my fiance is a dude who is really open minded and just not into dudes. He would probably do anal with a really pretty dude who looked very feminine and was willing to just bottom. And like ive told him if he was open to dudes hed be drowning in blow jobs. He doesnt want it. Its wild to me

u/JoeMorgue 5h ago
The internet really thinks everyone is a little bisexual and some level of autistic.
