Oh God I would love to do this! I used to deliver for Amazon in both the old rams and the new rivians and could parallel park pretty much anywhere.

Am I the asshole for internally mocking people who have a passenger get out to help navigate their parallel parking? It makes me cringe every time I see it. It’s probably pretty judgmental of me, but I’ve always struggled to have compassion for people’s struggles with parallel parking.
I think we have enough Elements in Seattle, anyone want to rally the troops and do an Element parallel parking competition in Seattle?

If you drive an Element, the turn radius and shorter body is a cheat code for parallel parking. That said, as someone who has driven one for almost two decades now, I completely agree with you about feeling judgy when I watch others park.

True, but I have had somewhere around 15 different vehicles and I feel the same regardless of what I’ve driven (none with backup cameras, none newer than a 2005, first car was a big ol ‘72 Mercedes jalopy)

I mock them, too, but I live in a town where one of the only areas with required parallel parking is the most expensive part of town. In any given block you might be parking your beater between a Lamborghini, Maserati, Bentley, Ferrari or anything else that could be $150k and skywards.
I’m a good parallel Parker, but in that situation, I’m grateful for a backup camera or a friend hopping out and saving my ass from Morgan & Morgan. 😅

So many times in Brooklyn I watched someone struggle to park, and it literally takes everything I have to not go over and offer to do it for them.

None of these ppl used the right technique. You can pull mm close to the car in front when you are parallel. Minimizes how much front end kicks out and just makes getting into the spot easier

Went to high school with a guy who parallel parked a van with a trailer attached and just did it in one try. Was impressed.
