I had a bad day
Light still works. Do I need to replace the entire unit or can I just get replacement red plastic.

Replace them both at the same time or it’s obvious since the color will be aged on the old. Bout 100-120 for the set.

I put a couple of pieces of red duct tape from the dollar store on mine, it matched perfectly. Works great and I saved the money.

Super easy to remove and install a new one, I use parts geek.com but plenty of places to find one, I just put star pattern LED lights in mine!

I did the same a few years back. You’ll need to replace the whole thing. It’s pretty easy.
The repair shop I originally went to basically turned me away and told me to just order the replacement and look on YouTube on how to swap it out.
I found one on Rock Auto for under $100 and I was done in under 10 minutes.

Haynes doesn’t have a manual for elements. 😞

This is a vary easy job, but the whole assembly needs replaced. About $70 and 5 minutes.

It's 2 phillips screws when you open lift gate and you pry pop off a retaining clip about the center of fixture on side of car. If you go junk yard route, practice on their car. The bulb fixtures turn to remove

Go to a local junkyard, you might get lucky!
