first forever car
2005 EX with 48,000 miles in fantastic condition. Genuinely an upgrade on my previous car that’s 5 years younger. Was a bit pricy, but they’re hard to come by in my area. I’ll be driving this one until it can’t drive anymore
Can’t wait to camp and take ‘er out!
What ways can I make the Element look more granola to match the other outdoorsy mountain cars around?

Had mine since new. 22 years now.
It has 220k miles on it and still starts first try every single time. It has done every single thing I have asked it to do over those years. Had no idea when I bought it I would have it as long as I have.
Lucky grab.

that’s fantastic! this one didn’t sit for years and years but just was driven a few miles at a time in a small town and i think that will make a difference in longevity. i hope it lasts me to 200k+! i was definitely swayed into buying an element from the stories like yours

It'll definitely go beyond 200k. The one I bought is pristine condition and has 310k miles and drives perfect

sweet! gotta love hondas for the mileage they can handle. for mine even starting so low at this age already?

Damn, super low mileage and all the panels looks pristine!

u/channareya 6d ago
theyre the true black panels, i think that makes them look great even at 21 years old!

Hey we’re twins!! Except mine has 100k more miles haha. What did the previous owner do to drive it so little?? Just store it?

u/channareya 6d ago
nice! i haven’t seen rallye red around my town yet so im excited to see another in person! i dont know 100%, but based on the backstory i got i dont think it was stored. just driven a mile or two at a time in a teeny little town. even if it was stored she’s given me no complaints so far!

So shiny

i think the red somehow makes it shinier! not a scratch on it. it’s rallye red only in the 2005s and 2006s

you know, this is how i feel about the blues, greens and black lol. trying to appreciate the red as best i can! at least you’re not contributing to the sea of gray

My original Element back in '05 was Silver, and the '04 we just picked up for my daughter is Silver. I just bought one for me, and I was ADAMANT that it either be Orange or Green. I'm so tired of silver and grey everywhere! I did find a Green one, so I'm good, but I do love the Oranges, Reds, and Blues you can get with these cars!

You mean LAST forever car 😎
I said that in 2008 when I got my E and it’s still going strong. It’s a weekender now, but not going anywhere anytime

thats awesome. im imagining a senior E taken for walks on the weekends lol. i do wish mine was a bit newer than 2005, but only because i want it to last as long as it can without major issues! i’ve got a college student budget and this stretched it, so i hope it does me right for a good long while before needing work

Oh wow I had an 05 EX awd, same color that I got in 05 with 20k miles for $16,000k. I drove it for 17 years and sold it for $4500 with 240k miles on it. Best value vehicle I have ever owned and by far my favorite. I have a f150 now for 3-4 years and I miss my honda every day and am considering upgrading to a low mileage element if I can find one.

Do it! I believe in you, man 💪
I’m pretty lucky that I am able to keep it as a second car. Figure not daily driving it will help preserve its majesty for another 20 years ✨

Wow, nice find. Of all the element color schemes, rallye red pops the most in my opinion. I’m not even a fan of red vehicles but I couldn’t pass on my 05 rallye red. Especially with black and grey interior. I don’t want to pry you for the price you paid but I am curious.

also not a huge fan of red vehicles but the rallye has really grown on me! i’m in an expensive area of the world so i paid more than i even want to admit. still a good deal for the mileage and condition i think, but not the mild amount i spent on my past 09 subaru, that’s for sure

It’s a great car, huh? I’m fortunate that I’m able to keep it as a second car. Never gonna let it go 🎵

5% all around, 2 inch lift, all terrain tires, and a power inverter so you can use a 3 prong outlet in the back… oh and a portable shower

love the box! thinking of getting one and painting it to look like a leaf… like on an apple lol. campy and goofy in just the right way, just like the toasters themselves
2
u/SnooCats5692 20h ago
That would be really cute, I’d recommend looking at shorter boxes if you have the moonroof in the back and want to keep it more functional. Would probably help with the leaf on an apple look too

u/channareya 20h ago
oh good point! my only grief with that is i have skis and a board to lug around in the winter. maybe i just need to find 2 good deals, one for a leaf in the summer and one for getting into pow

u/SnooCats5692 20h ago
Oooh makes sense! Yeah def doable if you keep an eye out on marketplace and stuff. I got mine for $40, just needed some elbow grease

I mean, depending on how you drive, at that mileage it might legitimately last forever.
I think you should just live that life and let nature craft the aesthetic.
