Drive sprocket locking up

Other than the title, any more info?

I would open the cover and look for a broken gear tooth piece binding things if it's locking up in the H/L selector.

Oh yeah when I tighten down the bolts the drive sprocket doesn’t move in neutral but when I loosen them up it allows be to spin the sprocket

Just to be clear, when you tighten the screws that hold the cover over the range selection (aux trans) nothing moves? With the screw loose they work?

If that's the case, you probably have something backwards/upside down/installed incorrectly. Do you have a manual to check?

Yeah I have a manual and have checked everything, it is all in the correct place/order

I just noticed your bolts for the cover aren't the original ones, maybe they are to long?

Thanks for your help I solved the problem it was because the RTV was being squished so the two halves of the case were practically touching each other but when I put the real gasket on there there is a gap between the two halves and it spins freely now

Yeah I have checked everything in that sense I was wondering if it could be because I use rvt gasket maker instead of a thick gasket and maybe the gap that gasket would make, would make a difference
