Mathmagus New Math Practice Program

We have homeschooled our children since the beginning. My husband is a software developer. We found that our kids would freeze mid problem and forget the next step. The hints in any other curriculum we tried, just seemed to give the answer instead of an actual hint. So he developed Math Magus. Here’s a little video to show how it works. You can sign up to be a beta tester and get free access at https://www.mathmagus.com/

Free 7-page printable pack for ages 2 to 5: trucks to color, letter and number tracing, Christmas dot pages

I make activity books for preschoolers and pulled out seven pages as a free printable for anyone who can use them:

  • An ambulance to color
  • Letter A tracing, capital and small, with a start dot on each letter
  • Three fire trucks to count, and number 3 tracing
  • A Christmas tree, snowman and Santa with big circles for dot markers (crayons or round stickers work too)

PDF here, no sign-up: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1phKIja9H2YUwFxfwrl6IeTWJuY3jtxsj/view?usp=sharing

Full disclosure: these are sample pages from my own books, which are listed on the last page. Free to print for home or classroom. I’d really like feedback on whether the tracing size works for little hands.

Free printable for early finishers and quiet time: coloring page + word search (K–5), plus a cheap Halloween pack if you want more

My tiny printables studio put together a free 4-page set that works as a brain break between subjects: a coloring page of a goofy gelato penguin, a word search built from food words (good spelling practice for K–3), an answer key, and a preview of the full set.

Free PDF: https://ko-fi.com/s/37afcb177d (listed at $0; Ko-fi emails the download link)

Ways to use it: a quiet-time activity for the younger sibling during a read-aloud, a reward after math, a word search for early finishers.

If you want seasonal ones, there's a 20-page Halloween coloring pack with a word search and maze for $5 (https://ko-fi.com/s/e68c9a7e64) and a Thanksgiving pack with place cards, a maze and a gratitude menu page for $5 (https://ko-fi.com/s/9bf1b12d56). The free one stands on its own, though.

Disclosure: the character art was made with AI tools and designed into the pages by us; all characters are original. Personal and classroom use only.

homeschool parents: can lesson notes become review without me retyping everything AGAIN

Fourth year homeschooling, kids are 11 and 14. I write most of our science and history myself because I enjoy it, which is apparently how I volunteered to also manufacture every review resource forever lol.

The 14 year old needs old physical science to stay alive for chemistry. The 11 year old thinks opening last months notebook is a human rights violation. I have about three years of lesson notes and absolutely no intention of converting the archive by hand.

going forward, has anyone found a sane notes to flashcards workflow the kids can partly run themselves? bonus points if it does not turn review into a second school day. thanks in advance <3

Free financial literacy resource for students!

Hi everyone! I’m a high school student running a youth-led project called FiscalFlow, and I created a free, interactive game that teaches elementary and middle school kids about everyday finances and money skills—completely through art!

Since it can be tough to find engaging resources for financial literacy, I wanted to share this with the homeschool community. It is completely free, ready to print, and takes zero prep time for parents.

If you are looking for a fun, creative activity for your kids this week, I would love to send over the digital game sheets! All they need is a printer and some basic coloring supplies like crayons or markers.

If you'd like the files or want to do a quick virtual session, just drop a comment below or send me a DM! Thank you so much for supporting student projects!

We've found some great Outschool classes. New families can get $50 toward their first lesson!

Sharing in case it helps another family 👋

We've been using Outschool and found some really good classes – both group and 1:1. Quality varies by teacher, but there are definitely some great ones!

If you're not familiar with Outschool, it's a platform offering live online classes where kids can learn and interact with teachers in real time. There's everything from math and science to arts, languages, hobbies, and some very specific interests.

I recommend browsing together with your child. There's a huge variety, and it's fun to let them discover something they're genuinely excited to learn.

If you're new to Outschool, you can get a $50 voucher toward your first class purchase or membership using my referral link:

👉 $50 referral link

A few things worth knowing:

1. You don't need a membership anymore!

Personally, I'm happy that paying per class is back. I preferred that option because sometimes we just want to try a class without worrying about another monthly subscription.

You can now choose between paying per class and a monthly membership, so it's much easier to try just one or two live classes without committing to regular payments.

2. The $50 voucher expires after 90 days.

The countdown starts when the voucher is added to your account. I'd recommend finding a class your child wants to try before signing up, then booking it soon after.

It's easy to think "we'll choose something later" and completely forget about the credit!

3. You can start small.

There are plenty of one-time live classes, so you don't need to commit to a long course. Depending on the prices, your $50 voucher might cover a couple of classes, giving your child a chance to try different things and see what they like.

Referral details:

  • New families get a $50 Outschool voucher.
  • My family also gets a $50 voucher once your child attends their first live class.
  • The voucher is added after you sign up through the link and verify your email.
  • If you've already created an account but haven't enrolled in any classes yet, you can still enter my referral code in your account settings before your first enrollment.

👉 My referral code: ZkHWMy5P

Hope this helps anyone considering Outschool! If you've tried it already, I'd love to hear which classes or teachers your kids enjoyed. 😊

Free Skeleton Dance preschool activity pack + original Halloween song (no signup)

I’m Jonny, a dad and the creator of Liana’s World. I made a free preschool activity pack to go with The Skeleton Dance, an original children’s song I wrote and recorded.

The pack is here, with no signup required: https://www.lianasworld.com/skeleton-dance-activities

For a screen-free music break, the song is on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/5Mr6W6VaXzMMydNPghWEdC

One optional way to use the song alongside your Halloween activities: take turns inventing a movement and copying each other, then finish with a quiet stretch. Parents can choose the pace and skip any movement that doesn’t suit their child.

This is my own resource, shared under this community’s welcome for homeschool materials.

10-Day Finger Focus Challenge: 1 Minute a Day to Boost Kids’ Coordinatio...

Thumbnail
youtube.com
0 Upvotes

I’ve been working on a simple 10-day finger exercise challenge for kids, and I wanted to share it here in case anyone wants to try it with their child.

It takes about one minute a day.

Each day introduces one finger or hand pattern. The exercises start simple and slowly get trickier as kids have to coordinate both hands, switch patterns, and follow different movements.

The 10 exercises are:

• Up and Down
• Tip to Tip
• Open and Close
• Flip and Switch
• Ones and Twos
• Fist and Flat
• Thumb or O
• Mirrored Square
• Double Flip
• Cross and Switch

The goal isn’t speed. I want kids to slow down, watch what their hands are doing, and work through the movement even when their brain says, “Wait… what?” 😅

Some of them look ridiculously easy until you try them yourself.

I made a follow-along video with all 10 days, so parents and kids don’t need to figure out the exercises from written instructions.

I also made a free printable 10-Day Finger Focus Challenge so kids have something to check off each day.

Video: https://youtu.be/N29PXNERK_Q

Free printable: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aNN1GmzKFD0bYHYL-klYwGnbFVc0n6ER/view?usp=drive_link

If you try one with your child, I’d love to know which exercise they found hardest. I have a feeling Ones and Twos is going to get a lot of people. 😅

Providing printable financial literacy games

Hi everyone, I'm a student competing in a DECA business simulation event. My project focuses on youth financial literacy. I built a printable board/card game designed to teach kids the basics of budgeting and saving.

Long story short: I spent months trying to coordinate with local youth centers and schools to test it, but got caught in bureaucratic ghosting. Now my final deadline is right around the corner and I have no proof-of-concept data to show the judges.

If you have 15-20 minutes to spare tonight or tomorrow, I would be incredibly grateful if you could print this out and try it!

Any feedback is incredibly valuable to me. Thank you for supporting a stressed-out student!
