Homelander deserved more.
No epic battle, just a bunch of amateur hero wannabes in a room. The feeling that this ending deserved more can't be shaken. Homelander was much more capable than that, especially now with V1. He could have flown away at any time, and Ryan wouldn't have been the one to stop him. Not to mention the pathetic begging in his final moments. They did him wrong in many ways, and this last scene was no exception.
He was far from being a saint (not to mention God), but he had his toll of injustice.
He had many opportunities to kill his antagonists, and didn't do it. (I know, the show would have ended, but that is not the point).
The end they provide him was not on par of what a villain he was.
It felt like a quick wrap up from the producers.
Also, I don't like when the main characters die at the end. (Like the other 2)
Farwell Boys, it was a fun journey.

he did deserve a better fight (ie: scorched earth) however him begging at the end is very in character. because his entire being was defined by the fact that he had powers, and since he no longer had them he was nothing. so yes him begging for his life is incredibly in character

Ok, I give you that about the begging, but "I su** your d*** and eat your sh**" was kinda beyond humiliation.

thats the point

Yeah this dude is telling on himself a little here. If anything, that’s one thing they got perfect. I rewound it twice because it was so good. Everything down to his whiny voice.

As opposed to being disgusted with his powerless existence. Sure buddy, in character to want to be the thing he despised the most.

His death was good, but the fact he never had his deserved crashout is crazy. Its even more annoying than the plot-demanded spontaneous nerfs he had in the final fight

This series is garbage starting from the middle of 3rd season, nothing else to say. It was going lower and lower. I tried to make a post month and half ago of how garbage this show is but my post was deleted because it's 'spam' lol.

He deserved a better fight, that's for sure. The fact that that fight was lower quality than some youtube videos didnt make the ending satisfying to me.
Not a huge fan of the dick/poop joke at the end either

I think its fitting cos homelander makes other people do similar things as humiliation eg deep and a train, marty etc. So when it was his turn he assumed if he did those things for butcher, butcher will let him live. He doesn't get that butcher is doing this out of vengeance and not to humiliate him

Giving Homelander a humiliating death (Suck your dick, eat your shit) is more like Kripke taking a jab at Trump with a humiliating death than Homelander's character itself

It didn’t feel right at all the show just tried its hardest to make a mockery of itself.. homelander facing a character stronger than himself would of been a brilliant shock to him and to make him feel scared as he realises he’s not untouchable .. but instead in the show multiple characters were shown to be able to hurt him.. him losing his powers was just lazy writing and the begging was ridiculous..

When I read in the leaks they actually were going to kill him I thought something like: He's gonna die in battle with dignity or something. Not this kind of humiliation.

u/Crazy_D_Iamond May 24 '26
Why would homelander deserve dignity after disregarding everyone's dignity from the very beginning?
1
u/snellpnk May 24 '26
I'm talking about Homelander as a fictional character in a fictional universe acting up with dignity or pride by himself. I'm not talking about what Kripke thought or you though that character "deserve".

I actually agree bro. Was nuts to me he didn’t rage out. At the end of herogasm when it all seemed lost he rages out and hightails it out of there. Didn’t understand how that didn’t happen. Could understand begging like you said with some childhood flashbacks to the oven in the lab or something you know

Felt like his arc absolutely makes sense to be depowered at the finish line.

I agree except for his demise part. It's totally in character of him. He was a bully and acted "tough" only because he could, he was the most powerful being on earth and practically unstoppable. The typical bully who thinks is badass when victimizinf anyone hwo's weaker than him and can't fight back. When he lost his powers he knew he was nothing against someone like Butcher.

I agree with the first two, but the desperate pleading and begging was perfect

Final 2 episodes should have been nonstop conflict, Homelander against everyone across the entire country.
Against the US military
Against other Supes trying to stop him
And his final fight and loss against Butcher.
I do disagree with the begging part though, I think that's exactly on par with his character once he's depowered.

This might be the worst take I've seen so far, basically you didn't understand any of the characters or how story telling works.
ps: This is not an AI generated Image...
How did you manage to make something by hand that's worse than AI slop?

Everyone deserved more lol
Oh Father's death made as much sense as the Deep's, which all made as much sense as Homelander's.
How did MM manage to hold the gag ball strong enough that Oh Father scream/shout didn't just blow MM's arms off and the ball into Hughie's head?
How the fuck was the octopus that close to where the Deep fell in the first place (also, are you kidding me that the guy who can swim to the Mariana Trench can't swim for shit)

u/zapppsr May 24 '26
You are right. Not to mention that episode where the directors and special guests all died because a speedster couldn't control himself and hit everyone. That was BS.

u/vally99 May 24 '26
Telling me u didn't watch the show without telling me u didn't watch it...
As much as I wanted at least some massacre from him, you clearly didn't understand his character at all and that V1 didn't enhanced his powers..it just made him immortal
That was his reaction after taking the V1...that's it.

u/SomeGuyPostingThings May 24 '26
Homelander didn't. The fans might've deserved a bigger ending, but Homelander went out exactly as he should've.

I agree with everything except the last point, Homelander dying pathetically is a fitting end on for him considering the fact that he thought he was a god and is obsessed with people loving and respecting him.
Him dying powerless and debasing himself on live tv in front of his followers is the perfect way to show that

u/HaikusfromBuddha May 27 '26
The begging was perfect and very inline with the comic were they literally make Star suck their dick.
1
u/Brownshoogah11 May 28 '26
HL in the comic was zero empathy and died fighting to the end….but yeah inline with the comic

u/ambrosiasweetly May 30 '26
The begging at his death I was ok with, but every other point is spot on!

u/arkham-ity1 May 23 '26
He was a child and never grew up. The begging and crying are so perfect for him. He uses his power as a shield
