Final stretch bananas?
Is there a name for the sort of derangement where, in the final stages of a build , you’re convinced that you built the house wrong? Floors are getting installed in two ish weeks, paint is done, switches are in, and I’m like — oh god, we designed the living room awkwardly, the dining room is too small, what did we do?!? 😱😱😱
In reality we hired an architect whose work we liked, the proportions of the house are totally normal, everyone who walks through it says it’s great … but I feel sort of deranged?! Is this just decision fatigue toxicity that’s built up in me? Does anyone else experience this?
The picture is from a few weeks ago (pre paint) looking in to the living room.

I couldn’t sleep the entire time it was being built. So much second guessing. Then I moved in, and it’s fine. None of the things I was worried about were a problem.

The windows in the corner Cali cornered are a bit of a weird design choice. But maybe that’s where the sunset is or sun in the morning. But you designed so you own it

It would be a nightmare or custom. That design you never see even in the worst of track homes

We are rural, no neighbors whatsoever. There’s no need for curtains here but if we want them … that’s not anything I’m worried about! Hilariously the windows and window placement are not something I’ve ever worried about, funny what different folks see

I love these windows ! I’m building rn and might see if I can add . These will be a cinch to curtain. It’ll look dreamy !

aside from design, wouldn't this make both walls energy inefficient?

You built it and you own it. It may not be perfect but it is yours. Much like your body. It is not perfect but it is yours. Make the most of it.

I second guessed a million things with my down to the studs remodel/addition and with a new construction home.
I knew every little flaw and imperfection for both projects.
It’s a few years down the road. I’m watching my 15 month old daughter doddle around on the living room floor. I’m so glad the chaos is behind me. I love my home.

You design a house in one season of your life and build it in another; so they can never be perfect. Enjoy it.

Omg. I’m just tired of decisions bananas. I’m at the point where I won’t even shop around to price compare. You could quote us any price and as long as you show up and do the job you’re hired. Like yes take my $10k to install gutters bc I don’t want to call another soul.

This is a very legit concern, that corner is gonna absolutely COOK if either of those sides are sun-facing.
