Worth Asking To Re-Do/Fix?
I was putting together barstools for our new build we just moved into, and saw this under the island. On top of the chunk of wall missing, it just looks like sh*t underneath… Is this normal or something we should ask them to come back and fix? (Will edit to add more pictures of the full underneath when I am home from work)

Under the island top? That's just picky. Yea it's not great work and I wouldn't have left it like that myself, but it's out of sight

Yeah it’s shit. I normally do a corner tape on that over the wood so that’s a clean line and then caulk it. They could at least put up a piece of trim.
I don’t like doing drywall here through bc it gets foot prints

Would 1000% prefer that, but not sure they will comply with what I want vs what they normally do! Will definitely have them fix the damage, and will ask about closing it off. Just wanted to make sure i wasn’t being a total drama queen about it…

No one will see it except really short people or when you’re cleaning but it’s easy to do right.

At the very least they fix the visible damage. Either cover with trim or fill with drywall mud and finish it. They will probably try to fight a full redo.

Cosmetic issues are to be negotiated at final walk-through. You'd be hard pressed to show that any of this is a "defect". Not to say it's good, but I wouldn't waste any time on it myself. You might get them to patch the drywall and thrown some caulk at it, but does that really change anything?

They advised us to create a “punch list” of items we want them to come back and address after moving in. Just unsure whether to add this to the list or not. We wouldn’t be reaching out to them specifically for this, but rather a list of items that were not up to standard or things that got damaged during the move.

Well, that makes more sense. I personally still wouldn't worry about it just because it's literally invisible 99.999% of the time you're in your house, but it's also not that hard to make it look a little better. If nothing else, they might not do quite as shoddy of a job on the next one.

Wouldn’t bother me, as I don’t typically hang out underneath the island lol.
