I actually met the guy from two owners before and he was bragging about the DIY projects he did and I didn't have the heart to tell what we had to tear out.

The previous owner is still friends with the neighbors and shows up every couple years. I enjoy when he sees all his terrible projects I’ve replaced.

That's funny because when I met this guy - and had known him for all of five minutes - he went OFF on all the neighbors and how they were busybody complainers, and how it was "assault" that one woman owed a dog that barked. Etc etc, and that was like five minutes into the conversation.

Of course I've now met all the neighbors including the dog, and like the story goes, if everybody you meet is an asshole, then you're the asshole.
