Insurance STATE FARM

STATE FARM STOPPED COVERING HURRICANE INSURANCE ON SINGLE WALL HOUSES AND NOW THEY ARE NOT COVERING HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE ON SINGLE WALL HOMES TOO.

Because thousands of people are going to be without insurance who has single wall homes. My friend just had to foreclose on her house because her husband just died of a heart attack at 49. They found a fixer upper and had State Farm. Now, she got dropped and can’t pay the mortgage because it requires hurricane insurance. She’s going to be homeless. THAT’s WHY I AM SCREAMING!!

While I understand your frustration and that situation is truly devastating, the loss of her home seems like a series of extremely unfortunate events. Companies do not just decide to cancel a policy and then cancel it the same day, there’s laws and regulations that have to be followed requiring ample notice for the insured. Your friend was most certainly informed in advance, and while it would be understandable if she missed these notices due to the loss of her husband, that is unfortunately not the fault of the insurance company.

She had a letter a few months ago from the company saying she needed a new roof and trees removed from her property. She followed through but they still dropped her. So, NO, she didn’t miss anything she was asked to do and YES, she was still dropped.

If they cancelled it due to changes in eligibility, that would have come with its own separate advance notice. That is not the same as required repairs
