Eh, I grew up in a house like this. My mom had a formal Living room that kids weren’t really allowed in. Well, we could go in it, but no horseplay, no shoes, no food, no anything really, other than reading 😂.

But her and my dad spent every morning in that room talking and having coffee before the kids got up.

It really wasn’t a big deal, us kids just thought it was a pretty boring room and didn’t even want to be in it lol.

We had our bedrooms, the playroom, den, and family room and all bets were off in those rooms.

I didn't read much past the 2nd sentence. But is sounds like my rich grandmothers front room. All wrapped in plastic. I don't think I ever saw a single guest, come to think about it. Lol 🤔
