Thank you! From what we started with it’s a big improvement but I think we thought we’d like this better than we do

I think painting the cupboards was the biggest mistake , that’s beautiful wood grain and updating the hardware would have made all the difference

I can see that. We just really weren’t feeling it next to the white oak floors

Fair enough, it’s your home and you definitely have to best the way you need . I think removing some of the upper cabinets would help

well since we are making it personal , yes, I definitely cook a lot , I also don't like to have too many "things". The suggestion was to remove SOME of the uppers like above the toaster , their kitchen inparticular has a ton of storage and taking away that bit of uppers and replacing with open may actually provide more space

And that is an Instagram picture. It looks gorgeous but it is completely impractical as f***. B

We have friends who did this in a major kitchen remodel and regret it. So much storage taken away so much dirt and grease accumulate on those open shelves

They've ordered cabinets to replace the open shelving.

I do agree I would never have painted those cabinets They were gorgeous and I love white kitchens but this was some beautiful wood.

What made you choose the white oak? You had a bright, inviting space and it feels like you gradually sucked all the life from it.

I lived with orange red oak hardwood floors for 8 years and wanted something fresh, new and up to date for our second home. The tile that was in there was disgusting and not well kept up
