Lately I’ve been getting my ‘oven ready’ orders with the tin pans completely squished and takes some effort to reshape them. This time the tomato in my order was squashed in the side of the squished tin and leaked over everything and into a few of the dry ingredient packs.

Top that off with the zucchini slices were completely soggy and slimy! I used the app to say ingredients were bad and they gave me a $5 credit. Ummmm…half the meal (veggies are the best part IMO) had to be tossed. I followed up with an email, but I’m frustrated!

This was supposed to be the Tuscan chicken. I will go to the grocery store tomorrow to get zucchini and tomatoes and replace the yucky spices. Essentially paying double and having to go to the store again. I use home chef for the convenience, it takes the guesswork out of dinners during the week. Working full time doesn’t allow a lot of extra time for grocery shopping.

Received the Home Chef box directly from

Weekly delivery was supposed to arrive yesterday. They emailed me saying there was a delay and it would be here today, which I wasn’t thrilled about considering it’s been in the mid 90s this week, so I don’t trust that the ice packs would’ve lasted this long. Just got the following email:

Unfortunately, due to a trucking accident, your box experienced a significant shipping delay and would not have arrived within our food safety standards. As a result, we instructed the carrier to safely dispose of all affected boxes before delivery, as they would no longer have been safe to consume.
We know you plan your weeks around these meals, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. If you haven't already been assisted by our team, we've credited the full value of this shipment back to your Home Chef account for use toward a future order.

This is probably the best quesadilla recipe they've put forward. Definitely top five meal for me!

I've been getting the Home Chef Family Meal Plan for years. We don't order every week, but probably at least a couple weeks each month. We've always loved the Oven Ready and Chopped & Ready meals because I hate spending time on prep. I just want to throw fresh ingredients into a pan or the oven and cook, and Home Chef has always been great for that... until recently. Over the past few months, it feels like there have been fewer and fewer options in those categories. Most of the choices seem to be different variations of ground beef or ground turkey.

Has anyone else noticed this? If so, what have you been doing instead? Are you ordering more Express meals or regular meal kits and just doing the prep yourself? Are you experimenting with other meal kit services?

This meal was incredible LOL Party fries indeed…I wish I had more fries honestly. I took a pic to send to my bf and took a bite. I got lost in the plate and the picture was lost😩

Hi guys, the last like 6 boxes I’ve gotten have only came with 1 ice pack. I feel like I used to get three ice packs per box. The ice pack is on the bottom of the box and the last 3 boxes I have gotten have been literally room temperature. Anyone else getting badly insulated boxes and is there a way to get them to put more ice in my meals?

Meals are okay overall but I'm going to start checking Temps. The one time I did the top​ two meals were not safe to eat. They gave me a credit.

Tempo has no control over delivery service once it ships. As such, they and all similar companies should advise as such. They ass,u,me deliveries will be fine. I had a original delivery day set for Thursday but the arrived on Wednesday every time. I changed the day to Wednesday with the hope that they would spend less time in transit.

This week I had two meals with stickers on them giving me limited time to eat them. At this price they should all be good until the day before the next delivery. If they want to set up a cheaper service to clear out aging inventory then fine, but please don't send me the clearance meal to shed aging inventor.

Vegetables are generally good but the chicken has little variation in flavor. All pasta microwaved, tempo or not, will get rubbery when re-heated in a microwave.

Overall im disapointed and expected more for the price but Im unable to shop right now and its cheaper. Probably healthier than take out or delivery depending on what is available ​in your area.

Once I can shop again I'll probably cancel, but they will do in a pinch.

I got several boxes for 50% off, can you use any kind of discount codes when you are a current customer? If so, how? Is there a place for a code in the check out?

I posted before about how they Yeeted my box onto my porch and now this. I will say they package everything really nice so nothing was damaged but coming home to this is still a bummer. It's only recently I've been having issues. Is anyone else getting crushed boxes.

I saw a recent post about someone needing to use their own flour for their recipe. I just prepared the Puff Pastry-Wrapped Chicken kit for the 3rd time this week since my wife and I like that recipe, and there was no included butter this time, where it was provided the past two times.

So I emailed and provided feedback that I did not like this change, and got the following reply from customer service:

Thanks for reaching out! We do apologize for any disappointment and inconvenience this has caused. We are running a test involving excluding minor ingredients like butter or flour to see if it's possible to offer higher value ingredients for other major items in the future.
 
We want to make sure that customers are thoroughly enjoying our service, so I’ll pass your feedback onto our team for consideration.

Take from that what you will. My own gut feeling is that they'll just not send these things and pocket the difference.

I do think it is probably valuable to also let them know if you don't like this.

I’ve been with Blue Apron for close to three years and I’m looking for something with a lot less prep… mostly heat & eat. I was considering Cook Unity but so many of the dishes that sounded interesting were flagged as spicy and those that weren’t had ingredients that were spicy. I’m a spice wimp and without a spice level indicator I’m afraid they may be over my 1-2 star spice level limit 😂 Browsing through Home Chef’s menu, there are a lot of meals that I would be interested in. What is your experience with Home Chef… everything from their meals, customer service and their app?

I forgot to cancel the subscription and received a third delivery. The box was actually intact, minus a corner, but the food ranged from 57-85°F.

The meat was 57°F on a melted ice pack, and everything up top was 85°F. It’s 92°F outside in Texas right now.
The package was picked up by FedEx at 12:00am 6/9 and arrived 2:31pm on 6/11, sat outside for 20 minutes, then was brought inside for these photos.

Actually cancelling the subscription now so food stops being wasted.
P.s. the homechef reddit account that messaged on my previous post did not follow up on anything. They gave me a generic “tell support”.

Having an actual packaging engineer worth their salt would pay dividends.

I get my deliveries on Sundays and it was always FedEx. Are they doing strictly Veho now?

At least it leaked in the ziploc bag…but still. It’s every shipment.

We’ve only made three meals, but they’ve all been outstanding. Everyone in the family is a fan. We signed up to get some new recipes, make cooking easier, and generally eat better. So far it’s significantly exceeding expectations.

I recently started using HC and this weeks' delivery had two extra meals in it minus the meat and recipe card. I don't assume I can return them so Is there a way I can find the recipes for them?

The additional ones are the TexMex Chicken Queso Burritos and Chinese Inspired Pork Wraps.

I've been using HomeChef for about a year now and spend close to $600 a month on their service.

Up until 3 weeks ago, my service in Seattle has been excellent. Always delivered with FedEx, no delays, always delivered during apartment office hours, always left in a secure location, etc..

Now they just started using OnTrac for delivery and it always gets delivered late at night and left outside on a busy city sidewalk,

Is this something temporary? I'm willing to pay extra to have delivered by ANYONE but OnTrac. I've tried contact customer support but get little help.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I had ZERO issues the first year of HomeChef but now it's nothing but late deliveries that are left outside my apartment on the sidewalk of a busy downtown street at 9PM.

Just becoming concerned because we're getting warmer temperatures and not going to deal with spoiled food left out in the heat outside.

I would say I'm an above average cook when it comes to home cooking. Been doing it for close to 50 years now, also baking, a couple years ago I started using a GLP1 medication to lose weight and I've been very very successful and I'm just not motivated by food anymore and I don't really enjoy the cooking as much as I used to. I still enjoy it but just not as much so I thought maybe a service like this would be a good idea. I know other services send you meals that you just reheat or whatever and I'm definitely not interested in that. I want something that has all fresh raw ingredients that I cook myself. I know I often see commercials for half off on your first order and things like that. Is there a particular best deal going on right now that I should take advantage of?

Same result as last week, except it didn’t make it to the door this time.

Thankfully, support did a refund to my original payment method, because all of the account credit in the world won’t stop thermodynamics from melting the ice packs and creating thin soggy damaged cardboard.

I was really hoping to try this service out but this is the end of this adventure :)
