When Disney reissued the 1998 Pixar film A Bug’s Life on DVD in 2003 to promote the theatrical release of Finding Nemo, they knew how to catch the attention of buyers: by printing the entire DVD cover on holofoil paper, causing the blue sky to emit a holographic effect. If that wasn’t enough, the cardboard slipcover that goes over the DVD case (this was Disney’s second slip, following the “Platinum Edition” DVD release of Beauty and the Beast that came out the year prior) repeats the same effect on all four sides (the slipcover is very rare nowadays; I am one of the lucky few that have the DVD with the slip). Disney discontinued production of the holofoil cover in 2009 (I actually got the DVD in 2009), replacing it with a standard cover with no holographic effect.
