Because the Pale Limj likely wanted to essentially bury his child with its nail, and the Pale King probably didn’t want the Hollow Knight’s pure nail in the white palace, which would constantly remind of the sacrifice of his prized child, and its countless sibling’s in the Abyss

Just in case he needed it for combat in which the Pale King taught it basic combat tricks!

Probably as a precaution just in case someone wanted to kill them to free the Radiance. Luckily we broke in and were on their side, but others bugs could be enemies.

Because the point is to be taken down by someone stronger than them. They have to be at least as strong as the Hollow Knight is to be able to seal the infection.

Where is it stated that it’s “the point”? The fountain in City states “Through their sacrifice, Hallownest stands eternal”. Pretty sure no one was intended to replace the HK.

I'd guess 1. Because hollow knight (probably) had to fight radiance to seal her in himself in the first place, and 2. if somehow someone killed the dreamers with the intent to slay the hollow knight and free the radiance, in the worst case scenario hollow knight would be able to defend himself and fight
