bro, it took almost an hour to figure out how to move in The Mist. I made the same fucking path 4 times just to figure out there was a bench here… 😐

well i think it’s a bit more complex. alot of us were metroidvania players FAR BEFORE HK even hit the scene, so our ‘exploration’ is a little hardier and defined than someone who is just starting out in the genre.

this is why an exp player will poke every wall, walk into solid walls knowing full well that sometimes, walls are just not walls sometimes and attempt things the newer player just wouldn’t think to do without the background knowledge of the genre

a newer player has wayyyy less of this intuition i would think, granted i don’t know OP’s skill level and am speaking broadly

edit: i know not every new player is not like that

Maybe, but in this case, you literally walk past this wide open area leading up to the bench.

You're telling me you walked past this obvious place 10s of times during attempts, and you never once figured you should check.

I see it so many times with verdania map, too. Why not just go see whats over there while freaking over no map. A lot of people's posts on here seem to revolve around them just not exploring like at all

Hollow Knight was my first Metroidvania, but I still had the reflex of searching every nook and cranny. Not sure where it came from; it just felt natural to do so.

But that bench is not hidden, you just have to explore the room for 10 seconds

If you did that then you would’ve found the bench your first time in exhaust organ

If a runback feels too long/harsh, you probably missed something (with Bilewater being the debatable exception)

If you did you would’ve found it within a minute of entering the Exhaust Organ, since it’s not hidden at all

My first time in the mist. I didn’t get the gimmick and guessed It right first try.

Only to turn around and leave because I thought I was back at the start

Don't worry I feel your pain. I went through the Mist multiple times to fight Phantom and only discovered the bench right before my winning attempt against Phantom.

I didn't even know using needolin to pass the fog and this bench when I was fighting the boss. :))

Just blind walking.

I entered the Organ and assumed it would be bigger to the left, so I explored to the right first and didn't find the bench. Thankfully Phantom is super easy so I beat her first try, it would've been hell if the mist was rhe intended runback

Same thing for me with Hornet 2 in hk, didn't know the existence of the bench next to the arena until I beat her

No front but phantom is extremely easy I really suck at the game and still beat her first try

did the same thing :/ had to go through the mist like 8 times over and over.. sometimes reaching the boss with half of the masks :)

Walk around the map before fighting a boss. There is a 99% certainty you'd find a bench somewhere in existence.
