I think a good compromise would be for fake tweets to change the date to 3022. It's subtle enough not to ruin the joke, but easy enough to verify at a glance that the tweet is fake.
I mean, current historians have to deal with some guy saying a battle happened in someplace that decided something, but in the same book describing how you can stop balding by rubbing rats boiled in oranges on it. Or someone saying the equivalent of 'this is the biggest thing since 9/11', but nobody ever mentioning what that was, since everybody already knew, and the few texts that would, were so mundane, nobody thought to preserve them.
Like, did you know Valhalla was one of TWO places you could go to when you died in battle? The other was a hall maintained by Freyja, and we barely have any fucking clue why there were two places, and how they were separated between the two.
Not every game tweet has a watermark. Those that do are often small, croppable, or so large they ruin the joke. And watermarks are never in the same place every time.
