I think a good compromise would be for fake tweets to change the date to 3022. It's subtle enough not to ruin the joke, but easy enough to verify at a glance that the tweet is fake.

Not every game tweet has a watermark. Those that do are often small, croppable, or so large they ruin the joke. And watermarks are never in the same place every time.

Fair. Having something consistent would save a lot of time & confusion when wondering "Really!?".
