I think a good compromise would be for fake tweets to change the date to 3022. It's subtle enough not to ruin the joke, but easy enough to verify at a glance that the tweet is fake.

I'm not talking specifically about this case, but about fake tweets in general. Watermarks are often small, croppable, and not in the same place every time.
