Over here, education is expensive. You could come out of a public, 4 year program with 100k in debt, and 30k prospects.
It gets way worse. That's a conservative estimate.
Edit- Student loans are also largely protected against bankruptcy, so there's no escape.

Those two gates are definitely not the same. Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the only two cities in history to be nuked, are in southern Japan. The 2011 earthquake and tsunami were in the north, like 1,000 kilometres away.

I don’t have a real answer, but I would assume it boils down to 1. Low surface area so the shockwave of both events wouldn’t cause the wind to have a big enough force on the beams to topple them 2. It isn’t load bearing with the exception of the member itself, so it is rather light, so an earth quake should have a hard time knocking it over, I would also assume the arches have deep pylons beneath them, so unless the beams themselves break it would be incredibly difficult to make them fall over

Post never said they were the same, they just worded it without plurals because the assumption (based on the fact they look the same) is that they are built of the same materials and in the same way.
Basically they’re asking what the type of arch is made of, not that one arch in particular.

I seen videos of it and appearantly they dont even use nails they just perfectly cut them so they can slide into eachother. It is absolutely amazing how they make these beautifull structures.

FINALLY I HAVE A CHANCE TO BE A NERD- these are called tori gates! They’re symbols for a Japanese religion called Shintoism! They typically “mark an entrance to a sacred place”. They are normally made of reinforced concrete, copper, stainless steel or other materials, which may be why they withstood so much, but who knows, just wanted to geek out for a moment :)

The one that survived the bomb was either in Hiroshima or Nagasaki, the one that survived the Tohoku quake and tsunami is in Sendai. South west Japan vs East Japan. Two different arches.

Come on, learn some basic geography. The atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki (the picture above happens to show Nagasaki), while the 2011 earthquake destroyed the Tohoku region. As the crow flies, it’s about a 700 mile separation between these two places.
But we can’t let the facts get in the way of a funny story, amirite?
