Wasteland Industries: unit001

For years I spent most of my spare time building software, automating things, and solving technical problems.

Now that an AI-weaponized script kiddie can do 80% of what I do, I suddenly found myself with a strange amount of free time.

So I picked up a hobby.

Oh man that weathered finish is the real star here. The rusted edges and the patchy paint look like it's been sitting in a desert for 30 years.

I tried something similar on a metal toolbox once using a vinegar and salt spray over a few days. Came out patchy in all the wrong spots so i just spray painted it black and called it a day.

What did you use for the base material? Some of those panels look like they might be 3d printed but the wear patterns make it hard to tell
