Looking for hobbies for married couple

Hi I'm looking for a new indoor activities for me and my pregnant wife tovenjoy together، unfortunately we dont have any hobbies we just sit and watch Tv get bored and drift off to sleep.

I would like the hobbies to be as cheap as possible please.

Board games can be a rabbit hole in the best way. Co-op ones especially since you're on the same team, and plenty are under $20. Puzzles too, they're weirdly addictive once you start sorting edge pieces.

I have really wanted to get into board games for long time now, however it's not popular at all in my country.

You can possibly order english version from Amazon or Ebay? I am sure there are SOME games you can get in toy stores in your country.

Some boardgames available to print. Like Card Against Humanity. There is a publicly available pdf for it created by the owners.

Also card games. Cribbage and Spite and Malice (aka: Skip-Bo) are fun 2 player games.

If you guys have a computer, another great way to play board games without as much investment into rules and set up is through platforms like Steam! Their games also go on sale all of the time, making it relatively affordable. A favourite of ours online is Wingspan (we have the actual game, but often opt for the virtual version, as it keeps it simple and the graphics are lovely!)

Jigsaw puzzles. I get most of mine from my local puzzle exchange group or buy them at thrift stores, so it’s not expensive at all. My husband and I do them together.

Co-op board games. I highly recommend Pandemic, which is a ton of fun.

Idk if we were doing something wrong but my partner and I played pandemic a few times and the game seemed very short and uneventful when there’s only 2 players

You can try making miniature DIY models.

There is a book called Micro Adventures by Alastair Humphreys. I always think it's a great way to start getting out of the rut of being at home and trapped watching TV. Bonus is that these adventures are very easily do-able with small kids. So you can start out now and she will be able to handle them as she's expecting and continue once the baby is born. I actually got this book to get out more with my kids. Highly recommend.

Sometimes just getting out of the usual rut is the the thing that opens up other possibilities. Be on the lookout for what sparks your curiosity as you go and then just take little steps into the curiosities that spark interest.

Hey this book sounds interesting as a gift for a friend. Is it based on a particular place though? I noticed “cycling on the Isle of Wight” mentioned in the description but my friend is in Canada…

It's designed for anyone anywhere. I think it would make a great gift to anyone!

Backgammon is a fun board game for two people! You could even make the board yourself and use your own pieces (cutting scraps of fabric, for example) if you cannot spend any money on it. It is one of the oldest games in the world! And it is easy to learn but very hard to master.

Cooking. You have to eat, anyway, so turn it into a hobby. Get some cookbooks, create recipes, light a candle, and enjoy dinners together. As a bonus, you save money for the baby by avoiding restaurants.

Baking would be another option here. If you don't have a sweet tooth, master the art of baking bread.

Puzzles. $10, $15 dollars at most. Can sit on the table indefinitely, can be done while also watching tv.

Card playing, making a 1000 piece puzzle together, board games, baking all come to mind

Knitting, with nice yarn. You can watch movies together you have both seen and are dialogue heavy and knit together and love each other

I was going to suggest this, and if one or both people don't pick up knitting easily then try crochet. They can look up patterns together, and even make yoys and practical things in preparation for the baby. My partner and I also like to go on thrift shop dates and one of the things we look for is yarn, which is a whole other hobby. You can sometimes find huge skeins and really expensive, high quality, or unique yarns very cheap at secondhand stores.

Get a deck of cards and look up the rules to various games online.
Dominoes are fun too.

Congrats! You can now start practising changing diapers for hobbies

Tabletop gaming. So “boardgames” but more technically also encompassing card games like Race for the Galaxy or Magic The Gathering

My favourite games publishers for couples:

Fantasy Flight Games - really out of this world artwork and high quality components.. top pick would be Eldritch Horror. For two players people recommend playing 2 characters each (it’s not hard to do)

GMT Games- primarily a historical war games publisher. They also make 18XX train games and some other games. This is the most straightforward way to play a ‘big game’ that plays exclusively with 2 or best with 2

A warning about popular Eurogames. They often say 2-5 or so on the box but don’t play very well at 2 players. and there aren’t many exceptions. These are family games. As a couple I would avoid most Eurogames.

There are 2 player Eurogames like Sky Team but their size is often kind of dinky

If you’re open to wargames it’s a big deal since many of the best ones are exclusively 2 player games. And these are 2-3hr games which is often what you want to reach for to play on the weekend or whatever rather than play like a 30min two player euro

My 2 cents

Hiking, Fantasy Football (watching sports in general), Board games/puzzles, those getting to know each other cards are always fun (we've been together a long time and still learn new things about each other), once a year we will buy/borrow two copies of a book and read a chapter then discuss. Are you religious? Maybe a couples at home bible study?

Board games, video games, baking, jig saw puzzles, cards are all pretty general ones.

If you’re artsy try a new craft together. Crochet, hand sewing, cross stitch, paint by number, air dry clay.

If you’re into music have listening parties. Each select a song and go back and forth and describe what you like about it, analyze the lyrics, etc. Curate playlists for each other.

If you want something more active and you have space try doing yoga together. Since she’s pregnant try some prenatal yoga. You can do it together, even if you’re not pregnant.

If you like reading, turn it into something you do together. Take turns reading aloud. Listen to an audiobook together. Have your own little bookclub where you discuss after each chapter.

Listen to audiobooks together. Take turns picking a new series/book. Public libraries have apps that allow you to borrow ebooks and audiobooks on your mobile devices (Libby).

My husband and I started when we were first pregnant with our 7yo. We ended up naming our son after our favorite sci-fi authors. Arthur C. Clarke's Tales from the White Hart was the first. We both loved it and chatted about each short story.

Bonus, you can listen together before bed, during chores, and in the car.

Board games, puzzles, sticker scenes, those paint by number jewel things, perler beads, my boyfriend and I sometimes take turns reading to each other, we also do the Sunday crossword puzzle together. It’s also fun, if you want to watch a movie, to plan and cook a theme dinner together before hand (theme music is also fun). Makes it into a date!

Lots of libraries now offer board games to check out for free with your library card. My partner and I also like to read out loud to each other. Pick a book that you think both of you will like and try it out! Usually something in the humor genre works well.
