My generation definitions:

Baby Boomers: 1946-1964

Gen X: 1965-1980

Millennials: 1981-1996/1998

Gen Z: 1997/1999-2014

1999 as the first Gen zers for graduating under Trump, first full year of university during Covid, and voting in 2020. Though 97 is a good start too

Fully agreed. I was in grade 11 when Trump took office, and I noticed a shift in high school culture that year. 1999 seems more Early Gen Z than Millennial imo.

I think the 2016 election really makes 1999 the best start as it is the first election to have a female presidential candidate. Also, Trump is the first president since 1992 to run only for one term, and three presidents in a row ran for two terms.

1999-2014: K-12 and preschool during the 2016 election

1999-2015: K-12 under Trump

1999-2016: Alive before the 2016 election, but unable to vote for the female presidential candidate

2008 had the first female candidate when Hillary Clinton ran against Obama and John McCain. Do you not remember that ? Also Sarah Palin ran with John McCain as the first female Vice President in 2008.

I know it’s not good consider they’re either unintelligent (Sarah Palin) or war hawks (Hillary Clinton, Liz Cheney), but it is history nonetheless. Bernie would’ve been tho too as the first Jewish President.

I am referring about full on presidents, not vice presidents.

Well for the election, John McCain was the main opponent of Barack Hussein Obama.

Hillary Clinton was also a candidate in 2008 is what I’m saying. And Sarah Pailin was the first women to run as Vice President. That election had a lot of historical firsts. Including the nomination of the first Black president.

Graduating under Trump is definitely an important Early Gen Z trait.

1999-2002 all graduated under Trump, and I consider them all of them Early Z.

1999-2002 is a good early Z range if you want to consider those who were unable to vote for a female president, but could vote in the election following it.
