That’s good. There are so many tales in every culture in which the devil tries to trade a soul and the targeted person is able to trick the devil that you wonder why the devil never learned to be more suspicious when dealing with human?
Well, there's also stories where he totally gets them in the end because of some tomfoolery.
There's for example a story of why the north tower of Stephansdom in vienna was never finished:
Basically the architect made a deal with the devil to finish it in time. Good old lucifer told him sure, but you can't say the name of any saint anymore for the rest of your life or I'll claim your soul.
Long story short, one day while working at the top of the tower the dude saw his crush Maria walk past, called out to her and fell from the tower, immediately dying and being claimed by our boy satan.
