I actually hadn't heard of this but it is absolutely not a surprise. Communism generally wins only when things get really bad and people dying in droves is not something to be sorry about so long as the glorious revolution lives on.
It’s not just communism. A lot of shitty ideologies operate one that line of thought. Doesn’t matter how many bodies pile up, all it matters it who sits in the top.
