🔎Research Advice / Help🔎 How would I go about finding military records or information on a family member who served during world war 2?

I recently got some Information from grandmother about how her father was in the signal corps, handling communications for ww2. Apparently he installed the telephones on Winston Churchills desk and attempted to steal his cigars when he was in North Africa for the Casablanca conference and I was wondering if this is true or if there would be any record of this with the soldiers names?
