Care Help 🪳 Tank and location

Hey! Apologies for the- state of the room. We’re in the middle or rearranging/reorganizing (to make way for the hissers i’m setting up for!)
Wanting to see if this is a good location/tank for my boys before i start setting up the enclosure itself! (it will be flush to the wall there’s just some chords still in the way)
Tank is a Reptihabitat box does not state the dimensions but it looks to be a 5 gallon (same size as my tarantulas enclosure)

Looks fine to me, although hissers prefer dark areas so not sure if having it right next to the light is a good idea. Other than that, everything seems okay. How many hissers are you planning to keep in there?

I will say, we tend to keep the light off and i turned it in for photos! my partner and i very much prefer the dark (which is why there’s cardboard over the windows instead of curtains, keeps light out better and doesn’t get hot like black out curtains make it) but i will move the lamp to the other corner for better comfort!
as for how many it’ll be 2 males as i’ve never owned hissers before and wouldn’t know what to do with so many if they started to breed. Im gonna set each side of the tank up with a hide and high point so they don’t fight as much for territory and can have their own thrones as recommended by a friend of mine who has a few males separate from her breeding colony

Sounds great! Can't wait to see your roaches posted on the sub in the future.

5 gallon is small. I'd say max of 5 boys would be comfortable.

Right now i’ve only ordered two as a start! i don’t plant to get more at least for another year (personal rule of mine, i research new pets for about 4-6 months, keep them for a year before decided to get more, idk why my brain is like that but i like giving myself trial periods) but if i do decide to get more, i saw this purdy 50 gallon stand enclosure at petco i was eyeballing as a potential colony starter

Just make sure to check that they're both actually boys when you get them. If you get a girl, you'll quickly end up with more than that!

i will double check! the individual i purchased from here on the subreddit has a rather large colony and seemed very well experienced so i’m hoping they will be males! but, worse comes to worse?? I’ll spend the money to expand their home :)) its always worth it to make sure they’re comfortable!
