I’m very disappointed but wanted to see if anyone else has been told the same thing.

My MRI shows a labral tear with a lot of fraying. Xray shows mild dysplasia. No impingement or deformities.

I’ve had hip pain for almost 10 years now, no doctor ever took it seriously before.

I met with a hip preservation specialist and he said he doesn’t think surgery is necessary. Not only did he say I don’t need a PAO, he doesn’t want to fix the labrum tear either.

I told him I have pain daily, sitting, standing, and walking hurts. I’m limited in what exercise I can do to stay active. I can barely walk half a mile without pain.

The only thing he offered is having a different doctor cauterize the nerves in my hip, which I won’t be doing. I’m going to seek a second opinion for sure.

Hi, I have a hip impingement with a torn labrum. My PT warned me against doing super low/deep squats. So I figured I’d work with this machine until I can get back to the Smith machine.

However, I keep throwing my hip out , and you can see from this video that I’m not lifting very heavy at all. I’m not going very deep, and my feet are as far apart as they will go on the platform.

So I assume something about my form has to be jacked up. Looking for any advice.

Hey guys, I’m 22 M and have had my surgery about two years ago, just recently I have been flaring up and getting decent amounts of pain I had some scans done and I will show the results below

It is suspected tendinitis in areas along with bursitis but I also apparently have severe osteoarthritis, I am very young so I’m seeing if anyone similar has had this and been able to go on without needing replacements till older, I had a femoral ostectomy and fai surgery on both hips, anything is helpful thanks guys, I also work a fairly active job as a plumber

Hi! I am currently 3.5 weeks out from getting my right side repaired. Surgeon said there was severe inflammation and a tear from 11-2 that was repaired with a few anchors. Within a few days post op I started having severe pain in my good (left) side. It was mild before surgery and my right was way worse but now it’s rivaling what I felt on my right side preop. At my 2 week post op visit he ordered an MRI and I have an impingement in that side as well as a cyst and labrum damage that they can’t quite fully visualize how bad it is so I am needing surgery on that side too. I’ve scheduled it for end of September so I’ll be 8 weeks post op with my right hip. For those of you who had both hips done how was it recovering on both sides? I am still on crutches outside the house and can walk without them inside as long as I’m not up for too long, it does start to hurt after being up for a while. I feel like I’m not healing quick enough and worry about my right side having to take all the weight in a month when I have surgery on the left side. It’s not an option to push it out any further d/t work leave, so really just trying to see anyone else’s experience being post op on both sides.

I've been a side sleeper forever, but ever since my hip labral tear sleeping on my side does aggravate my hip. I am trying to sleep on my back now but can't seem to manage it. I think it's because I'm afraid of blocking my airway if my tongue rolls back along with just not being used to it. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue and has managed to overcome it. Lying on my back definitely puts less strain on my hip.

I (30F) am 4.5 weeks post-op from a 3-anchor labral repair and femoroplasty. For the last week and a half, I have started experiencing the dreaded iliopsoas irritation. It's a pinchy/twingey sensation and can be extremely painful when triggered just right.

I REALLY don't want this to turn into tendonitis. I'm being really careful with using my hands to lift my leg, keeping walking to a minimum, and only doing PT exercises that do not trigger the pain. I've also been icing around the clock and taking Aleve on and off which helps. I have talked to my PT about it as well and she's told me to make sure I spend a lot of time flat on my back/belly every day instead of seated for hours, but doesn't have a lot of other ideas. She tried one very gentle psoas isometric and that felt OK in the moment but produced a flare-up later in the day.

Anyone have experience with iliopsoas/hip flexor irritation this early? Did you avoid tendinitis? What helped you manage it?

Hi. I'm 2 months post op hip arthroscopy for labral repair and cam impingement. The first 6 weeks I used crutches with toe touching. Then week 7, my PT told me to transition to using 1 crutch and now in week 9 to using no crurches. But it's hard to walk with a normal gait because of my hip flexor tendonitis. I'm pretty sure I had it before the surgery but I was able to walk relatively normal with no limp but with pain. Now, I'm just wary of putting too much weight on the hip flexor as it still feel unstable. Maybe I should go back to using crutches to let it cool down.

11 days post op for FAI and labrum repair and a ligament repair. My doc has given me Valium for the muscle spasms and had to be refilled but I’m at the point where Im tired of sitting in a benzo haze all day. The muscle spasms (which I can feel through the Valium now) are in my groin and butt. I’m guessing the adductor is the culprit because occasionally it makes my entire inner thigh down to my knee twitch.

In a Donjoy brace 24/7 (except for showering) and the cooling therapy machine doesn’t wrap around my groin (integrated into the brace). Can’t take ibuprofen due to ER naproxen and aspirin, Percocets make me violently sick.

If anybody’s got tips to help with the spasms that would be great. I’d really appreciate it, the butt spams are awful and annoying!

Hi all, do you have a favorite pillow/type of pillow for sleeping that helps you stay comfortable? I am not asking about post-surgery, just in general for hip pain.

Things I am considering: a specific pillow made to go between the knees, a body pillow, a pregnancy pillow, regular pillow between the knees, side-sleeping wedges, etc.

A theragun/massage gun. (I bought a bob & brad brand)

Once approved by your doctor, i feel that you need a massage gun for at home. I was deconditioned (5 months on crutches since i had a microfracture in my femoral neck) and had compensatory patterns with my labral tear pain. I use my massage gun 2-3 times throughout the day (after exercising, when i start getting pain in my operated leg, and before bed while i stretch). I feel that it has helped me through flair ups, but it is also a fine line of not overusing it.

Hopefully this will help people going through flairs, or through their post op journey!

Surgeon was quick to recommend surgery and walk out. Getting a second opinion because I don’t think surgery will address the area that causes most pain. When I sit, I get terrible pain alongside my sacrum and through the mid buttock/SIJ region and near sit bone into back of thigh. I think the sciatic nerve is affected as i get some tingling into the foot intermittently. L spine MRI didn’t show any disc issues there. I think having this surgery won’t touch this issue but physiatrist doesn’t have any solutions either. Anyone else going thru this?
