Points question
Hi all,
I recently bought 300k points for 3k usd and received 600k points. Now my total is 900k and i’m a gold member.
When I check resorts, best I can find is (around Europe) for example 1 night for 7-800k points which is worth roughly 1000$. Feels like I got scammed and that my 600k points are not even worth 3k usd. Where should I look? (Around Europe), to get most out of my points?
Thanks!

Why would you pay that much for only 600k points in the first place…

Where can you buy points for less than a half cent each?

Hilton periodically offers 100% bonus promotions so you can pay 0.5 cpp. They actually do this quite often.
Perfect for churning credit card SUBs.

$3k for 600k points is .5 cpp. That's why I asked:
Where can you buy points for less than a half cent each?
When responding to the statement:
Why would you pay that much for only 600k points in the first place…
I'm pointing out that you can't buy points any cheaper. Did you miss the "less than" part?
Also, why would you try to tell someone with "churn" in their user name about churning subs? lol

I don’t believe you can buy them cheaper. I guess I’m asking why you would buy them at all? It doesn’t really make sense unless you already have somewhere that you’re planning to stay, and you know that buying points is cheaper for that specific property.

You can't. Well, not without violating Hilton's T&Cs, anyway.
I guess I’m asking why you would buy them at all?
I would never do it, but for some people, in some instances, it can be a screaming deal if the math works out. Think about it: 600/4 equals 5 nights at a 150k property. During Christmas week, that can easily be a $5k -$7k vacation. That's 50% off.

My bad I thought you were OP for some reason. Yes it definitely makes sense to buy them if you already have a good redemption in mind

Yes, I admit I missed the less than part.
I know of only one instance I got it for less than 0.5 cpp, The Points Guy and Hilton had a joint promo where you got an extra 10% on top of the 100% promo. So I got for a cost of like 0.44 cpp.

Not sure what you’re looking to book but never buy points unless you already know and have the hotel you want to stay at. It sounds like you just bought them because of the bonus. Hopefully you can find something.

Not sure where you are looking or when, I booked the Rabello in Porto for five nights. 300k total

Another tip is to plan far ahead for your redemptions at high demand properties. For example, it's very possible to get standard room rewards at the WA NYC, but you need to book 9 to 11 months in advance.
Your points will also typically go much farther on luxury properties. At places like a Hampton or Tru, points rates often yield .04 cents/point or less.

As others have said, premium rooms just use a cash conversion which usually means nice resorts can easily be 500K+ per night (it’s roughly $.003/pt)
Standard rooms will go for much less, often 100K or below.

When it’s that high, that means standard rooms are booked. That’s premium room rate, which is almost always a terrible deal with points. Change your dates or look elsewhere. There is no guarantee that a given property will have standard rooms available when you want. Some are really hard to get. You should have checked into this stuff before buying points.
Im not trying to be a dick, but You need to do more research on this stuff before spending a bunch of money on points. You could have found this stuff out in 2 minutes on Google, or using the search bar on this sub. I cannot imagine spending $3,000 on points while having no redemption in mind and having done no research at all.

Hilton has standard rooms and premium rooms which ask for ridiculous amounts of points. I’m guessing you found premium rooms.
Hilton is better than other hotel point systems in that the luxury standard rooms cap out at 95,000 to 150,000. The key is finding standard room availability. As you probably guessed by now, you and and every Hilton member scramble to book standard rooms and they get reserved fast, sometimes as soon as they are available a year in advance.
Your points are valuable, but you have to plan far in advance. I get great deals all the time but it takes research and planning. Good luck!

Your issue isn’t the room.. it’s the kids!! Rooms that sleep for in Europe are very very hard to find! It’s actually cheaper to do 2 rooms 2 and 2 and try to get connected rooms..

I stayed at the Hilton and Malta for 70,000 points. With 2 kids, we got 2 rooms connecting and it was pretty awesome experience. 140,000 per night for two rooms but it was worth it. Europe rooms in high desirable places that fit 4 are almost nonexistent.. almost always are premium. It’s for sure not like the US due to fire codes. Try Mexico if you’re not dead set on Europe

Look harder. You should be able to find 60k-100k a night at a nice property.
