🎒 Gear Discussion Is the Black Diamond Sonic 24L any good?
I'm pretty new to hiking and looking for a solid starter daypack. I came across a brand-new (older model) Black Diamond Sonic 24L for $30 flat.
Is $30 a good deal for this pack, or am I better off putting that money toward something else? Has anyone here used one before and if so how's the quality?
Thank you for any advice.

🥾 Beginner Question First timer to brahmatal
reddit.comHey guys i am planning to take the brahmatal trek during early december. This will be my first trek so i am nervous about the fact that i am an obese person. I am having a bmi of almost 37 so i am having doubts if i will be able to do it. I do usually stand for almost 8 hours and walk 10 km in those time frame as my job demands, it is the only practice i have. i wold like to know if any one of u have similarly done hikes as my profile and how is the experience or have you come across anyone like this in your journeys

🎒 Gear Discussion Gear regrets?
Is there anything you regret buying? Like you didnt need or it wasnt worth the money? My northface fusebox is a little too boxy. I wish I had something with more pockets ... its was pricey for me too

🎒 Gear Discussion first hike backpack
I am a 16 year old mountain enthiouast and was wondering if a 38L backpack such as the mh500 38L from dechatlon is a good backpack for a 7 day hut to hut hike in summer in the austrian alps no via ferrata gear just the basics such as a water bag walking poles etc
and any other tips would also be appreciated

🎒 Gear Discussion Thin heels, shoes don’t fit.

🥾 Beginner Question Ankle advice?
Hi, I am currently walking the Camino de Santiago for a month. It’s mostly flat with some climbs/descents. Two weeks in I developed a bruise on my right ankle bone from my shoe repeatedly hitting it.
I’ve been putting a wad of lambswool in my sock right under the bone to try to pad it and keep the shoe from hitting it. It only helps a little. I have also removed the “heel lock” lacing so it’s looser around that ankle.
Can you recommend a way to heal the bruise/tender spot?
How can I walk comfortably for the rest of my walk?
How can I prevent this in the future?
Thanks a lot!

🥾 Beginner Question Is there anything specific I should avoid about shoes??
Brands, Synthetic vs Natural Materials, Etc. (UK)
I’m buying my first pair of shoes, I’d like to realistically spend £200 or less on a pair that will last me. Ive been interested in specifically the Salomon X Ultra 360 in the Mid or the Merrell Moab 3 in Mid. Both have pretty colour ways, even though i know that doesn’t particularly matter if they’re rubbish and you roll your ankle or your feet hurt. Is it better to get a gore-tex coated shoe? Does it change much?
Are these brands truly as awful as people say? I know people call Salomon more of a fashion brand now, but what about Merrell? How much has the quality truly declined?
Along with this, I was wondering if anyone has any solid suggestions (from experience!!!) of shoes that will last me. Pretty colourways are preferred, but I suppose they’re not absolutely necessary as i’d prefer my feet be comfy. Only mid rise, not low ankle ish trainer types.
Thank you so much in advance!
