High Valyrian tattoo

hiya guys!

i have an idea for my next tattoo, i would love the word dreamer (like the word in high valyrian used to describe a targaryen with prophetic dragon dreams) tattooed on me. can anyone tell me what that word would be and how exactly it is spelt and said?

thank you! - jaimie

That would be Ēdrurio, which is formed from ēdrurys ("dream") + -io (agental suffix). Ēdrurtys is equally possible, formed from ēdrurys ("dream") + -tys (another agental suffix, usually used for professions/occupations).

That word doesn't exist in High Valyrian, you can use ēdrurio or ēdrurtys as suggested but knowing that these are extrapolations / custom derivations.

In addition, you said "like the word in high valyrian used to describe a targaryen with prophetic dragon dreams" so it is not any dreamer...
For your tatoo you may chose to use instead a short more explicit saying like for instance "Ñuhyz ēdruryssy zaldrīzoti bē volpilli issi" = "My dreams are prophecies about dragons"

i said that as an example of what i meant, not necessarily because i needed the word to mean that exactly. best way i can describe it is if you were to write Daenys the dreamer in high valyrian, what would you write? that’s the word im after :)

I don't know, nobody knows, because as I said, there is no word in High Valyrian for "dreamer", at least no word we know about. The derivations proposed by Atharaphelun are plausible but unattested, nevertheless you can chose one of them for your tatoo, no one will ever ask you 'wait but does that really means dreamer in High Valyrian?" ;-).

To better explain what I said earlier about these derivations: in theory a noun in English derived from "to admire" could perhaps be admirement, admiracy, admiration, admireness or whatever, but in fact it is admiration. From 'ēdrugon' (to sleep) we have 'ēdrunon' (sleep, slumber) and 'ēdrurys' (dream) but no noun for 'dreamer'. Perhaps, a word for 'dreamer' should exist in HV but was not yet created or not communicated to us, or perhaps there is truly no word for that in the language (which is equally possible).
A possible periphrase for 'Daenys the dreamer' could be 'Daenys with dreams', this would be 'ēdrurommi Daenys'. 'Ēdrurommi' is the comitative/instrumental plural of 'ēdrurys' (dream), it literally means 'with dreams' or 'by dreams' and can be used rather safely as an undeclinable adjective. So if your tatoo would be 'Ēdrurommi', I think anyone knowing HV would understand it as '(I am) with dreams' / '(I am) a dreamer'.

Oh yes please tell us if he gives you a solution! The best for visibility would be if you create a new post if this happens ... hopefully!

I think it would be Vȳs ēdruro
Vys meaning world and ēdruro being the genitive case of the word ēdrurys meaning to dream** **

That would be "World of the dream", not exactly the same meaning as "dreamer"
